Dude--as soon as you asked why they didn't leave immediately, I suddenly knew exactly what you were going for. Brilliant. I don't know how they'd make that explanation clear to us on the show, exactly, but I like it.

I agree with almost everything, in particular the Thistle connection (well-spotted!), but I certainly don't think Bran will warg into Meera, at least not in the show. Bloodraven surely gained enough time to summon an ally to come to rescue them, and that is probably Coldhands (TV doesn't keep secrets from the audience). I have absolutely no idea how this may play out in the books.

Good thoughts man, I think some of you reviewers/theorists put a lot more effort and thoughts into this than the show writers do. Unfortunately I think they're going for the explanation of "bran linked the consciousness of present day hodor with young hodor" it's in the game of thrones wikia. It's why he hears meera saying hold the door and not the 3ER. Also if you remember in the trailer there's a hand that reaches down to grab or pull meera up. This person will be the one that saves them. My biggest concern now is if they'll use the whole "mark" of the nights king as a way for them to get past the wall once bran reaches CB or winterfell. No horn of winter no epic bringing the wall down moment, let's just walk on through fellas

Well when Jon was leaving castle black he did tell Ed, Don't knock it down while I'm gone....,some foreshadowing?

+Garrett Backstrom yeah that seems to be the popular idea at the moment. I just didn't want to post that as some people are very sensitive about what is and what's not a spoiler.

...this still doesn't make sense why they didn't just leave the cave when he was touched. So basically bloodraven wants to sacrifice everyone just to show Bran he can warg in to normal people and not just simple people?

anamericanthinks: thats where my head was at in regards to traveling. So the Other would have had to go from Hardhome to the tree and sit and wait for somthing that might not come then over to the cave it makes more since that they when Hardhome and then the Bran GPS kicked in. The other side of the coin and we have seen it alot this season is people showing up super fast place IE Little Finger, Others,

I hope you're right, but listening to the D&D commentary after, it seems like they intended it to be Bran's rogue telepathy, unfocused because Bloodraven was data-dumping into his brain. It sure doesn't look that way onscreen--I'm afraid that their storytelling is just getting sloppy, perhaps because they know they need to tie up a metric frak-ton of loose ends in 2 seasons, and they're not setting things up or showing them in a well-crafted way.

I have been thinking about this and wanted to see what you and others think. So in the first pages of the books and the first seen in the show is of the first time we see the Others. It is said no one has seen them in years and Mance, within the last few years tried to get all Wildlings over the wall. So what if when Bran went to go see the nights king it wasn't in real time but it the past. It would be fitting if he caused to issues (Hodor & Others) what do u think???

I think it's possible, and it may explain the traveling time necessary, because I think the whole thing doesn't make sense otherwise. Last we knew the Night's King was attacking the wall. And all of a sudden he shows up at the Children's cave, which is some journey from the wall.

nicely analyzed- one of the better Interpretations around. time-travel paradoxes are usually bs but for some reason this is grabbing my attention too. they could really go to town now and turn bran into Neo/God/all the gods old and new. good god!
