An Equal Loudness Contour (EQC) is a measure of Sound Pressure Level over the frequency spectrum such that each frequency of sound is perceived equally loud by humans. Audible sound frequencies for humans range from 20Hz to 20KHz. Harvey Fletcher and Wilden Munson were the pioneers in determining the EQC by performing psychoacoustic experiments on a large group of people. Later, many others performed experiments to improve the EQC curve. Learn more about EQC in this video.
