Speaking as a father, who managed to see his son grow up and go to college with minimal medical issues; even if you watch them constantly, something can happen. As a parent, you know this and do the best you can.

Rachel had been doing drugs, particularly ecstasy. Ella (the baby) overdosed on it as she got a hold of either 1-2 pills. At first Mark thinks that it was Rachel that OD'ed and not his baby girl. Elizabeth is struggling to forgive Rachel for what she had done to her child.

ForesterComics based on the show. I think that Rachel is actually a female version of Mark. They are so much alike. And Rachel even followed him to being an ER doc. Which I think has more to do with wanting to connect with her deceased father.

He didn't forgive her, he just saw how sorry she really was and despite everything, she is still his daughter. What did you want him to do? Punch her in the face? We all think we know what we would do, but we really don't know until it happens to us. She didn't directly give Ella the drugs. That would have been different. It was a horrible accident.

And when Elizabeth kicked her out, Rachel even understood why. She even told Mark that she understood. It showed that she knew why Elizabeth was so upset and didn't try to weasel out of blame.

@@VideoKilledMyZZZ I absolutely cannot stand rap. It's 99% garbage. Hoobastank is the kind of music a 12 year old would listen to because they think there is some deep meaning hidden in there that no one understands but them. Awful. Anything else, oh insightful one?

@@VideoKilledMyZZZ Everything from Natalie Merchant to Jethro Tull to Opeth to various classical composers. Anything that falls under the progressive umbrella pleases me quite a bit. More than anything, I like meaningful lyrics and complex instrumental work. *shrugs I mean, to each their own, but this song triggers me. Hahaha. :) Apologies if I offended you, though. I was just venting.
