Nice work, and the camera makes the time invest seem miniscule. I always wanted one of these, but I will make do with my "rose" attachment for the time being. Enjoyed the video, cheers!

One of the problems I see with the off the shelf purchase of these hex and square collet blocks, the ER nuts are larger then the block, so when placed in the mill vise, it must be placed so the nut over hangs on the side. So you then have uneven vise jaw clamping, which can lead to movement of the block. I can't tell, but it looks like your collet nut is just slightly smaller then the block clamping dimensions. I was expecting single point threading, not too many folks have a 40mm die sitting in their tooling stash😁 Nice build, also the complaints I see about the off the shelf, they are not concentric to the hex or square. Last month I got bit by this with an ER40 set, so now they need to be fixed, and I'm still stuck with blocks smaller then the collet nut. Dang it.

I didn’t know off the shelf had those issues. Good tip.. the ER32 is a fair bit smaller than the blocks so no issue there. I took that into consideration. I could have turned threads but last when I decided to make multiple fixtures I ordered the die. Some glad I did. Its so much faster. Gilles

I like that carriage stop setup. Did you do a video on that? I'll have to look for it.

Thanks that was a fun project before I started making videos. It fits the 13 perfectly. If you’d like I could draw the specs for you to make one.

So- you didn’t even square the block?

Other than being accurate within 0.0002” in the 4 jaw chuck and ensuring the 8 degree taper was also within 2 tenths, I didn’t bother with additional checks. Did the calibration off cam to keep the video really short. The block is for a specific job that doesn’t need extreme accuracy. But interestingly cold rolled 1018 is accurate within 0.0005” it’ll do for this job. 😉. Thanks for keeping an eye on me Drew. Gilles
