I used to drive an EC 12 Olympic on tramping work, big cab's for the day it was comfortable and pulled like a train, shame ERF don't exist anymore they were good wagons.

My thought's exactly Paul, I put that piece in at the eleventh hour along with the in cab scene. We now have one ourselves along with an 'E Series' unit so will be able to go into a bit more depth with it. Thanks for viewing and the comment.

I used to drive an EC12. Quite often did nights out in it, seemed quite luxurious at the time. I realy enjoyed driving it and thought it was the dogs whatsits! My only gripe with it was the positioning of the ignition key, the right knee had a habit of knocking it and cutting the engine, usually during a manoeuvre. Apart from that it was a great truck..... until I had a Volvo FH12 :-)

Its a sad sight to see Thoresby Colliery shut down as i passed it quite alot but at least bits of it like the Emergency Winder and the EC12 now has a new home instead of being scrapped.

I know where three of them are so that's a bit of the rescue history saved.

Ha, the 'D' tour ! we had enough drama after this clip, and we had the camera with us but didn't have it running when the battery exploded or the fuel trouble either.

its sad that all the mines are all but gone . was thorseby in the hands of the ncb till closure or did other people use rescue equiptment such as this perhaps on hire or lease as i know allot of pits went to private hands . i wonder in its day how many pits might have to call on the services of this machine as i assume it might be called to go anywhere. I remember one at the rescue station in my home town. i bet that that one had a bit of in cab industrial language as well . at least the fodens not going on the scrap heap and i bet the museum is well worth a visit thanks for video

Thanks, Philip, yes Thoresby was with UK Coal in the end, I think Richard Budge Mining took over after British Coal. Mines Rescue was a private company and are still in business today trading as MRS Training and Rescue, dealing with health and safety issues and rescue training for all sorts of industeries.

I recognize where you were at 4.29 till the end. I go down the A1 and A57 quite often when going to Lincoln. Do you go to the Lincoln castle rallies quite often?
@SMayleification

Yes you are right, the trip starts at Thorsbey Colliery to Lincoln, then a few days later back down the A57 and up the A1 across to Wakefield. We do Lincoln Steam in August but not the castle one. Thanks for viewing.

What is the problem with the gears at 5.35?
@SMayleification
7 жыл бұрын
Driver error most probably, ha. These 'Twin splitters' don't engage with the air shift if you are a bit quick back on the throttle, to be sure it does engage 'bunny hop' with the stick (that's in and out the same gear with the stick) whilst making an air shift. The box is well worn and does jump out of gear at times.

I am not a lorry driver but I do have a very basic understanding of the operation of twin splitter gearboxes. Watching your videos have inspired me to take an interest in old lorries.

Well done mate, it is good news to me that someone from the younger generation is becoming interested in old lorries, keep up the good work on your own stuff. We now have an ERF of our own with a twin splitter, so when we get the chance I'll do a video on how to use that sort of gearbox.

Make yourself know next time, if the timing is right you can have a run around the arena.
