My favorite version of this magnificent tune. Eric really plays with fire and intensity here.

120000 of us felt it. Very intense on his face. An out of body experience.

I just love this song. It never gets old. To anyone who has ever loved passionately and deeply but lost in love, this is a song to relate to. The guitar playing is intense in this performance. I love it!

Wish they had a video. It was fantastic. Even though the sound went down a bit because of the wind. I heard the people in the back lost the sound for a bit. Clapton on fire.

I recorded this off the radio when it was broadcast, and also waited 2 weeks for MTV to broadcast a highlights video. What a shame they left out this tune, probably due to the feedback at the beginning. One of my favorite Clapton solos.

I believe the story here is that rain and lightning knocked the power out in the venue just as the song was starting. This affected both the video and recording feed but NOT the radio broadcast. That’s what caused the buzzing and feedback. The power went back on soon after Clapton starting singing, which is why the fans randomly start cheering. Clapton was VERY angry, which is why he played such a forceful solo.

Doesn't explain why Pretending has also never shown itself on video...(or audio for that matter, odd)

I guess that's why I have never been able to find video of it. I remember hearing it on the radio though and being blown away.

It was the wind. No rain at the time plus the band turn up the sound too much. It took the sound guy about 30 seconds to correct it.
