From the 1994 album, " From The Cradle", Eric was an avid admirer of Eddie Boyd who originally recorded this in 1952. Eric truly brought this song to new heights with his powerful renditions. The emotive delivery of his raw guitars solos add to the intense blues atmosphere. Eric's soulful vocals and haunting guitar work, express pain and longing in the lyrics. This song serves as a cathartic outlet for those who have heartache. His iconic guitar solos play a crucial role in the songs impact.Just a masterpiece.🎸🎸🎸Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Uncle Phil.👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

Boomer here. Eric Clapton is my favorite guitarist of all time and his voice was made for R&R. Layla is my favorite song of his but they're all great! Thankyou Harri and Phil ❤.

Harri, watching you react is one of the special joys in life. I knew you loved his vocals and this is one of the reasons I picked this song but also the guitar solo is practically my favorite by him.

U.P. - As you may have figured out by now, Clapton is at the top of my list of the greatest guitarists in Rock history. Harri, you are spot-on once again in pointing out that E.C. is also a top-tier vocalist. Great submission and review, Uncle Phil and Harri!!

This is from 1994 blues album, From the Cradle. He won a Grammy for it a year later. It's very very good.

If you want his best blues performances, you NEED to check: - Groaning the Blues (It’s in his channel) - Double trouble 1995 or 1978 - Old love 1992 Mountain View - Have you ever Loved a Woman (It’s in his channel)

I know this one from Buddy Guy. Great song, and I feel this one in my soul. Maybe Buddy will play this one when he comes to town this summer ( I promise to remember Eric if he does).

One of my favourite blues. Eric obviously liked it too. Here he is playing the solo from the Yardbirds version in 1964 kzitem.info/news/bejne/rISctqR_a6GDh4Y The ending suggests it was fashioned after Muddy Waters as it does not appear in Eddie Boyd's version. He may have been at the American Folk Festival at the Fairfield Halls in Croydon in 1963 to hear it (I certainly was) kzitem.info/news/bejne/r6mAzICimJx_aqg d Here's the Boyd original kzitem.info/news/bejne/tX-V4Ht5gamXl20

If you thought that solo was good, try (from the same album) “Someday After a While.” To my ears, it may be the best solo he ever recorded for a studio album.

Also… well known fact is that this album was all recorded live. No overdubs, no edits. All players did this live, yes multiple takes and choose the best one but all live.

If you want to hear this song sung and played with true soul and feeling check out Stevie Marriott's version, it kicks this sanitised rendition into touch where it belongs

That may be a great version but I hardly think this is a sanitized version. That sounds like an insult to me. lol.

I heard Bruce Springsteen say once in an interview that he never puts down other musicians or their music. It's a show of respect. I kind of use that rule when it comes to other people's requests. In fact, you can use that rule in all aspects of life.
