Wow, now I want to learn more abt JJ Cale . I didn't know he wrote so many great songs for perfomers that I love, Clapton, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash & Lynyrd Skynyrd. Had no idea he wrote after midnight & Cocaine. Of course I knew he wrote Call Me the Breeze because I heard Ronnie Van Zant give credit where credit is do when they did the breeze. Heard interview with Gary Rossington talking abt how much Skynyrd loved JJ Cale & that he & Ronnie were going to write with him after their Street Survivor tour & they were really looking forward to it but that never happened unfortunately. I am gonna have to listen to some of his music I haven't heard

JJ Cale was one of the most underrated guitar players/song writers ever. He influenced many guitar greats like Mark Knopfler and wrote such songs as Cocaine, After Midnight, The Same Old Blues etc... He has a joint album with Clapton The Road To Escondido. The two remained close friends until Cale's untimely death in 2013. A great man, a great loss.

When I lived in Tulsa 15 years ago, I played Bass with Don White, Jimmy Karstein, Chuck Blackwell, Rocky Frisco, Junior Markham and many others. I probably played with half of the musicians in Tulsa over a 20-years period. I heard the Don White radio interview and Don told a really great story about you inviting him to be on the album to sing "The Sensitive Kind". That was a really gracious gesture to have Don play on your album. I played a lot of gigs with Don and he's a great person. BTW, The album is a wonderful tribute to J.J.Cale and all the OKIES who played on the album. I wanted to mention that I went to Thomas Jefferson High School, in Dallas with Wanda and Freddie King Jr.! Greetings from Buenos Aires, Tex

I've watched this video a few times and find the overriding theme to be sweetly poignant and very true to Clapton's heart. The song itself is a touching memorial to JJ Cale, the passage of time and one's place in the musical lineage. I am quite sure that Cale's death had a profound influence on Clapton's desire to abandon touring and work on smaller challenges. I remember Clapton saying that he would retire from the road when he reached 70...that would be March 2015. Health issues, family issues and existential issues play as big a part in his psyche as music once did. Great article in "Uncut" August 2014'' has some great insights.
