I would like to perform a classic blues song that was popularized by the great 60's British Blues Rock band, Cream, on a great acoustic version!
The most bluesy melodies on their iconic album, Disraeli Gears, are Clapton's arrangements for "Outside Woman Blues". This song was first composed and recorded by the American bluesman Blind Joe Reynolds in 1929. It is one of the few known recordings made by Reynolds, who used 'Woman Blues' in several song titles, including "Cold Woman Blues", "Goose Hill Woman Blues "and" Third Street Woman Blues ". Like many others, this folk blues talks about the daily lives of people of that time, involving themes such as betrayal, work songs, the loss of a woman, melancholy, sex, jealousy, etc. Most of these songs may sound sexist and inappropriate today, but it was part of the culture of people back then.
During the recording sessions of the 1967 Disraeli Gears album, Eric Clapton made an incredible Blues Rock adaptation for "Outside Woman Blues", playing the guitars and singing the lead. It sounded perfect with Jack Bruce's descending bass lines and Ginger Baker's unique drums technique.
In 2006, the acclaimed Classic Albums series, featured a brand new documentary about the album Disraeli Gears and Eric Clapton did an amazing acoustic performance of "Outside Woman Blues". It’s incredibly intimate, full of soul, and embodies everything we’ve come to love about the blues, yet Eric Clapton still manages to retain his signature sound.
Wow... awesome! That's the version I'd like to perform on this video. Hope you guys enjoy as much as did!!!
Stay safe and Peace & Love!!!
