***** The issue is that the bar can't sink AFTER you get the press command. When the weights are heavier, the weight is more likely to keep sinking. That's why the timing of a press command is pretty much as critical as the actual pause in the perception of the legitimacy of the lift.
@larppa666
9 жыл бұрын
Jim McDonald So is that the reason or at least i have noticed that every federation i have been or followed the heavier guys benching tons of weight usually get press command much faster. If that's so i got to lose that long pause habit fast back when i was in IPF on 231 class they used to give some long ass pauses. Now first competition on different fed is coming soon and i weight 305 am i screwed if they give the command fast and i keep the pause longer.

I agree that this is incredibly impressive, but two points annoy me: 1) It is incredibly close to being a touch and go, the judge should have been more vocal. 2) When seen from another angle, his right foot clearly slides / shuffles which should be a disqualification.
@TheJimMcD3SB
10 жыл бұрын
You're confused about what "disqualification" actually means in the rules. Disqualification is caused by some major infraction. Foot movement is not a major infraction. Foot movement, if it's actually seen, can be given a red light by any ref that sees it, but typically only ONE ref is in a good position to see. It takes 2 red lights to turn down a lift. Spoto received one red light from the ref on the side with foot movement.

@addikaye

We will. I'm aware it doesn't have to be long, by definition it's holding the bar motionless at the chest. To me, Kirill satisfies that criteria where Spoto doesn't. Anyway... The feet rule is dependent on the federation. I know WPC allow it, IPF do not.

hate to say it because i always get accused of being a dick head but that wasn't even close to a paused bench. Typical of so many meets. These superhuman attempts always get the benefit of the doubt. The teenage kid trying a 300 lb bench for the first time would have been red lighted. At least every other element was there ass down, clean press, it wasn't bounced or heaved in anyway. Still amazing as hell. I will say it was cleaner than Mendleson's 715 which was basically a gym lift. Spoto is amazingly strong and by far the best bencher out there but no way anyone objective can say that the bar paused. The judges are scared to red light big attempts like this.

@KiLLtRoCiTy01
10 жыл бұрын
RAW POWERLIFTER 716 was definitely TNG and shouldn't have been passed and I'll give you that the 722 was VERY close (I consider it to be a legal, paused bench) in terms of being paused motionless vs not but there is no way in hell anyone here can conclusively say that the lift was "nowhere close" to being paused based on the video. again, 716...different story but you simply cannot make such a statement about the 722 based on the video footage. maybe it really wasn't paused motionless, maybe it was but regardless of your opinion on it (in either case) you can't say it was CLEARLY one or the other.
