I truly admired Eric Friedman & was extremely saddened by his passing, as I am right at this very moment upon reflecting upon the life & career of, perhaps, Heifetz's greatest students; Eugene Fodor. Heifetz brought violin playing to an astonishingly high level. I am very delighted in hearing Eric Friedman in this interview; very informative & interesting. I could listen to Eric discuss music all day long & not be bored for a minute. His views & opinions are priceless.

I watched an old USC video of Heifiz teaching Eric Freidman and other young virtuoso violinist on the most suffisticated violin technicues. This man was the most sophisticated teacher. Heifiz loved his students, although he did not show this outwardly, but when he did a parody of a student doing a "bad" audition, his students revered him. I was lucky to find this. I am truly saddned to hear of Friedman's passing. I only just discovered him, but so happy to havce discovered this world mike

While I was Heifetz student 4th year , he invited me to his home and had dinner together and gave me an old violin as a gift. Because I didn't have a decent one.

Erick Friedman passed away from lung cancer at age 64 on March 30, 2004. He had been teaching at Yale University up until a week before his death.

What a wonderful story by Mr. Friedman about being asked to record with the great Heifetz. We should all take it upon ourselves to listen to their recording of the Bach Double Concerto if we have never done so.

Paris! There was a story about a flute player in Dublin the 1960s-Andre Prieur- who had studied with Moyse chiding a student who had not practiced over the Christmas break by telling her that he had played for five hours on Christmas day and here she was telling him she had done little over the holiday and so her scales were not good.
