That's pretty cool stuff! Hard to believe that hinged cutter's pin can take that amount of stress/force being put on it

This is a very useful tool, used them for back spot facing stainless steel valve bodies. I can’t recollect ever having any difficulties in producing a fine product. South Africa.

Why dont you stop the spindle and compress the tool and feed it thru the hole with out rotation no need to reverse.
@venkateshv6353
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Bob Creamier we need take the tool by stopping the spindle and compression manually - its lead time loss , manual intervention One more point : if you are doing multiple hole then its difficult to entry into the hole because we can assure the cutting open condition or closed condition

Bob CREAMIER what if access to the backside of the hole is restricted and too small for your hand? This way you could even do blind holes if you really needed to. Genius tool and replaceable cutters that make short work of that train rail steel.

Come up with an example of a real application in situation, and an offer of available sizes, otherwise this video is useless.

I found the company website in about 15 seconds and the catalog about 5 seconds latter. Clearly the application is for spot facing the back side of a hole. The only thing that is useless is your comment. spot facing the back side of a beam or channel is a pretty common application that is show in the video.

I worked for a pump manufacturer , machining the castings, we used these for 70% of the back spot facing , the other 30% we had a fixed offset tool, and a manual one that had a head that twisted on & off. these ones in the video work well when new..., but when worn , they can jam up and not close when entering or retracting from a hole, not advised to used these without supervision. when they work , they work well. the main use for these are castings that you can't cut a spot face for bolts from the top side, example- base castings, back face of flange castings

@@swamppifi6186 That's a good warning. I can't imagine using this tool on anything but cast material. It just doesn't seem rigid enough for anything tougher.

@@peachmelba1000 we were machining pump casting, cast iron everyday ,it is a must use tool for the back of the flanges where the nuts and washers sit. It is impossible to get in behind with any other tool.
