Genius at work. Erroll Garner 15th June 1921- 2nd January 1977. My favourite jazz pianist and the one who inspires me to this day to keep practising my own humble jazz piano efforts. If you are feeling sad, listen to Garner and he will lift your spirits immediately. Over 40 years after his death, previously unreleased recordings are still emerging. RIP Erroll Garner.

You can tell that this man really LOVED playing the piano. Here is where the word 'genius' appropriately applies....to Erroll Garner.

The best ever - he is my ears. I loved the comment of one of his bassists who said "he could play a song inside out".

During the introduction, his drummer and bassist are wondering what Mr. Garner is going to do! He never did the same thing twice. -pure genius.

Thank you! I see this was uploaded on Oct. 26th - that's my birthday and this is the song I was named for. Very nice present from the Universe. Oh another thing - Errol Garner was from my hometown, Pittsburgh PA.~ Sweet! The song can be sickeningly sweet and old fashioned, but this version is timeless and my favorite.

Unique and brilliant. His brain is hard wired to the piano, what you hear is what he's thinking.. It impresses me much more than any classical pianist could.

Of all the madcap little adventures, the strange and unexpected journeys, that are Garner’s intros-this one may well take the cake.

Eddie Calhoun (bass) is always attentive to what Erroll Garner is doing or about to do. It must've been difficult following Erroll's improvisations.

When I watch masters like this playing it's as if they and their instrument become a single entity. As a self-taught hack on piano, I am severely humbled watching people like Mr. Garner at work and making it look like its second nature.

@lomalindajazz Dear lomalindajazz, His bandmates were never confused. They had telepathic communication. They were able to anticipate his every move and nuance. Looking confused was all a part of the experience for the audience's pleasure. Sincerely, Exquisitesounds Hamilton, Bermuda
