The problem with hair barrettes is that not all of them work as shims. You may have to buy a few brands before you find the ones that are thin enough and narrow enough. Also, they tend to break off to a rough edge so you want to use the flatter of the two ends after you break them off. The ceramic blade can be bought from Hardcase Survival; however the Shomer-tec ones come in a tube, so I'd stay away from the ST. They will work but I like having the little plastic slip with the blade. Things like watches and phones (especially phones) are most likely to be taken away from you; theft in case of both, but phones so you can't call for help. Loose your phone/watch and you have no tools unless you have layered others on you in harder to find spots. On the other hand, kinda like a bug out bag is to weight, a kit that takes a lot of time to switch between one outfit and another, the more likely it is to not be carried.

I brought some Neodymium Cylinder Magnet, they make great compasses, and they can be stitched in a pocket lining or tapped to a Zipper pull.A must-have in an urban E and E situation is a small cell phone that can be concealed on the body. Unfortunately with the 3g network being shut down soon, all the small alternatives will be useless.

What is a small cellphone? Not sure what you mean. Can you explain? Thanks

One suggestion: Magnetize the needle to make a float compass,; pre-thread it to make it quicker to use for sewing.

@@BlackSwanOutdoors Glad to hear that. It's an old trick. I'm new to your channel. Looks interesting.

One thing for sure is you would not be able to plan ahead for an event that would require that kit. You'd have to have it on your person at all times.
