The cheque i cut the government on my properties and investments are seriously eating into my project bufgets. It would hurt less if I received value for my taxes but healthcare still isn't cheap, my children's college tuition costs a small fortune, and my husband and I still have retirement to plan for. Right now the only solutioniwe see is to scale up my profits and with our limited knowledge, we are at a loss on how to do that.

A dangerous situation is happening in the United States. There are many problems coming together, like rising prices, banks failing, a severe lack of rain for farming, a slowdown in the economy, not enough food and oil, and even shortages of things like baby formula and cars. It's all happening at once and could lead to a big disaster later this year or even sooner. I'm worried about my savings and retirement fund of $300k, which hasn't been growing at all. I want to figure out how to make the most of it.

It's often true that people underestimate the importance of financial advisors until they feel the negative effects of emotional decision-making. I remember a few summers ago, after a tough divorce, when I needed a boost for my struggling business. I'm past tired of doomer "FLEE FLEE FLEE" propaganda. That attitude is exactly why the state is heading in this direction. I love this state, born and raised here, still have family and friends here, and I'm not gonna be silently defeated, driven out of my home and replaced by Third Worlders. Everybody doesn't want to live in, and can't fit in, Florida. Housing's already sky high there and that's what happens when everybody tries to run to one place. Florida doesn't have real seasons, it boils in the summer, thunderstorms every afternoon, hurricanes, swamps, alligators, poisonous snakes, etc. Nice place to visit for the winter but I have no desire to live there. It's too bad that so many flee-ers have no desire or skills to organize with other people who think exactly like him, and actually make change happen. Everybody complains about the Democrats but have never even lifted a finger to become politically active and either party. At this year's election in Kankakee county, I noticed that most of the Republican committeeman positions listed on the ballot had NO ONE running for them. I don't know about this guy's exact political or financial status, but he seems to speak for so many conservatives who are all about their money. But they have no fight. Not even Florida is going to survive with that atomized, selfish attitude. Hang together, or hang separately.

My wife is a retired teacher and I know some of her teacher friends who are retired. The number you quoted is twice what is reality. Teachers are ineligible for Social Security even if they earned benefits. Many teachers with families work other jobs during the summer. As a public servant, Ronald Reagan took this benefit away from the teachers claiming they were “double dipping.” This also extends to me her husband. If I die before my wife does, she is not allowed to get any part of my Social Security. Most people in the public sector have this limitation because they choose to be a teacher. For anyone else, that would mean the option of taking the SS benefit they earned or their spouse whichever is bigger. Teachers also have college costs and annual continuing education is required to keep their teaching certificate active. The politicians are now making it VERY hard for a new teacher to make it through to retirement to collect a pension. Then people will wonder why they can’t get teachers of good ones. I had corporate jobs also taught a few college classes along the way. Teaching is not easy.

Still saying I prefer being here now is a NO. As a moderate... I kind of no longer feel I fit in. Not saving my million $$+ for retirement had that choice the better option. Even when I first moved to Chicago late 70s after high school. I knew my chance of owning a home there was much much harder and take much much longer. In my hometown.... I first bought a fixer-upper and paid it off in 5-yrs still at over 11% interest in 85. Point is.... those who have it want to keep it. Is human nature and larger metros always are more pricey. IL grew vs its surrounding states for decades when it already was corrupt and of that party we won't mention and Chicagoland rule. Seems the big boys always get too big for their britches. BUT THE EQUITY THEY BUILT IN HOMES never came to those much cheaper sunbelt areas less desired for much of the 20th century and by Corporate America. Once AC was standard for homes, cars and business. Those areas less desired clearly remained cheaper just as Appalachia. Still taking wealth from cities from de-industrialization to white-flight including companies and then so much to Asia. WE DAMAGED OURSELVES when all our infrastructure was aging including suburbs as a PONZIE scheme of growing with tax base coming in... then retail and companies. Then BUILT-OUT and things age new infrastructure needed. New schools continued needing to be paid for, Police city workers pensions grow.... Some merely chose to move to a newer area leaving those left with rising taxes and/or lower property values that then had similar effects as big cities. Be satisfied with a new area means one never felt they belonged to their older abodes or they would forever miss it still no matter what. Most who move to these new fast growing rising metros... within a decade find all the same issues of rising values bring rising taxes and their new home once is not new anymore and a school district keeps demanding more to satisfy it. Wash, Rinse and Repeat. I forever will miss Chicago. I did become part of it and it part of me.

Give every native-born US citizen, not just congressman or state legislators or judges or pigs or nurses or teachers or bureaucrats or whatever, the SAME substantial retirement benefits, medical insurance, and dental insurance. All native-born citizens equally, with no favoritism, no higher benefits, no higher pensions for the government bloc mentioned above…………. Cutting the military / war / invasion / occupation budget - like by closing hundreds of bases located thousands of miles from our borders, disentangling from “israel”, and minding our f-g business for a change - that will slash the annual federal government deficit. I watch your videos every morning while I'm having breakfast here by the ocean in Thailand. My cost of living is one third to one quarter of what it would cost in the United States. I cannot spend all of my Social Security money every month or even come close to it. When I came here I bought a brand new Toyota diesel pickup truck and a brand new beautiful Honda motorcycle. 6 months ago I bought a very large condominium that I'm sitting in right now where I can go out to the balcony and look at the ocean. Pensions are actually a pyramid scheme. If we ran a investment fund like pensions are run, we would be in prison. First sign of a pyramid, guaranteed payout. You never pay as much in as you receive out (provided you live to average death age). When the pension money is invested for growth to make up the difference, a economic crash happens (think 2008 housing bust), and now it's underfunded, with guaranteed payout, and usually guaranteed increases in payout as well over the course of the life of the pensioners.

Lived in Chicago and had a beach house in Beverly Shores, IN. Taxes started out low in 2000 then increased dramatically ~4x by 2010. Porter County Nazi assessor who took his clues from Chicago. Sold the property and moved out of Chicago. Good riddance.

@@lisalasers Oh, and the "top tier" school system is not so top tier anymore at all! New Trier High School used to be ranked at the top in the 1960s or so, but has fallen back considerably. It is not even on the radar screen anymore. The school seems to cater to "stars" only, the rest of the kids not so much. And the elementary schools are not so great either, my kids did not even learn cursive, or critical thinking. Everything has dumbed down, sorry!

I'm in McHenry County and my taxes went up 44% this year. Since 2020 I'm up 62% in taxes. When I went to fight the tax increase with photos of my house they came back with everything wrong with my house can be fixed and so they will not change the assessment.

All pension funds in every state needs to end. It has become to much of a burden for the tax payer to help this. Even the military had to revamp their pension funds. It was creating a deficit to the tax payers.

I’m a teacher in Illinois. I don’t pay into social security, but I pay into TRS - 9 percent. That’s where my pension comes from. I don’t get social security. The max I can get is 75 percent of my max paycheck (it only raises with service years and education I paid for) after 35 years service.

Your wrong according too Google Illinois officials/the house speaker Emanuel Welch told WTTW that any hope the Bears might have of Illinois officials changing their tune after the November election is unrealistic; Even Governor JB Pritzker says that “It would be near impossible.” Now I still think that We The People of the state of Illinois will still get fucked over with increased taxes, BUT, you need to know Illinois has the most government of any state in the Union that means all these motherfuckers gotta get payed which circle’s back too increasing taxes; CHANGE is needed in all levels of government but also reducing government and ultimately solving the pension crisis is what Is NEEDED and could be the 1st step in unfucking the state it’s just corruption is apart of the dna of Illinois, but, guess what ? If shit does not change there won’t be a state of Illinois. I’m I apart of the problem ? The problem of the states budget crisis has been fucked since July 1st 2015. But guess what the main way Illinois makes its money and that is 🥁 TAXES and not on corporations oh heavens no they get a tax cut but the taxpayers are the ones always footing the bill. So yeah Illinois is fucked up and has been fucked up since its founding but it hasn’t always been this way though it’s morphed into something of a terrible situation does have too be this way NO, but, it is that’s life in the Prairie state.
