Nice to see you again! Join me on a little walk about in this small, suburban town in Mayenne, France. With the obligatory drone shots, of course. Thanks, you beautiful lot. D
🇨🇦Hi from Canada! Your videos are excellent and I always look forward to them. Your decision to stop your patreon account is a welcome one for me and I hope it’s a trend that others consider if they can. I do understand why some vloggers depend on those contributions and that’s ok, but you’re absolutely correct in acknowledging that creativity may be compromised if the creator becomes a manufacturer in order to generate revenue. (I’m not in a financial position to support any channels that way and I admit to feelings of guilt about it. If any channel has a patreon account, I believe that reminders are unnecessary and sometimes off-putting). Thank you again for sharing these lovely images.

Thanks Dan, always enjoyable, the music...divine and the French countryside, so beautiful...our Aussie bushland is beautiful, just very different but it smells divine. Very interesting to see the local area with it's lovely old buildings, it all looks so clean and well kept - with a 'hole in the wall' for dispensing baguettes no less... but does The Changing Room sell candles? 🧡🦘

Cool video Dan! The town doesn't look that small from the air and is quite pretty as most French towns are. Carole's shop is very classy and would fit right in at Rue de Commerce, Rue de Passy, or anyone of the boutique shopping streets in Paris. Stay healthy and safe. God bless! P.S. Loved hearing that little history about bread in France. The "cruciform" or cross shaped church is not unique to France, it's an architecture style for churches that has been used for centuries all around the world. 🙂 My husband and I were married in a cross shaped church here in the states that was built in 1858. But they date back to early Christian and Byzantine times (the Greek style cross, with equal sized arms was used as well and that architecture style has a different name). It's a lovely town you live in, thank you for sharing!! Thank you for sharing your kitchen too- it's really is quite awesome!! Thank you again!

so true; I've been a caterer, and worked in women's fashion. Catering takes over your life, although I found it to be fun. Any left-overs we'd sell to seniors who were on a budget. They appreciated not having to cook and we enjoyed not having to throw out good food. What happens to clothes that don't sell--do they get returned to the supplier?
@EagleEyePhotography
4 жыл бұрын
No we keep them.in stock because suppliers won't take out of season items. We just put them on clearance and of they still don't sell, there's a company that will buy all unsold stock in bulk for 1 or 2 euros an item

Glad to hear more about your Life in France and your town. The cross design is standard for churches. The nave (main aisle) is "crossed" by the transept before it reaches the altar Perhaps someone can explain why so many English (countryside) churches are entered by porch doors at the side of the church instead of front doors at the start of the nave. Significance?
@jofish7195
4 жыл бұрын
The porch was used in medieval times as a place for legal transactions by people that were not necessarily entering the church. Marriages, selling live stock, debts etc. some porches still have engravings of the transactions on the walls.

@@jofish7195 Thank you. Fascinating history. Makes sense. Church, the center of the community. In my childhood, the smokers, late comers or general loiterers stayed outside the main doors or inside the vestibule (in front of the nave). One local pastor took a dim view of those who arrived late for Mass. Perhaps they didn't want to be lectured in front of the entire congregation.

Oops..Ernee. I once went to a portes ouvertes when I lived in Nancy..it was fascinating watching the baker ....I'm sure that, as well as each baguette must weigh the same,wherever you are in France,each. baker has his own mark he slashes onto the top of the baguette.Vive La Revolution. I wonder if Portes Ouvertes still happen?Deffo not in Blighty.

the baguette did not exist during the revolution.the price was high before the revolution. the monarchy put some much taxes on common people it was starvation in france thats why they did the revolution this guy is trying to rewrite history?????
@EagleEyePhotography
4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I definitely said loaf of bread. Nobody mentioned a baguette during the revolution. And I said "at the height of the revolution, the cost of a loaf of bread was so high that in today's money, it would cost 20 euros" This is not a rewrite of history. I didn't say the cost of a baguette. I said "there's not a town TODAY where you can't wake up at 5AM and get yourself a baguette"
