I love watching you guys and Maggie. Not only for the content but also for the inspiration you give us to get out and enjoy our own adventures, to do our own versions of the "happy dance" makes your channel superb. The Monongahela National Forest is one of my favorite hiking and camping places. The Cranberry Wilderness and Dolly Sods are two of the best hiking areas in the Monongahela. BTW I hope people realize that the black king snake is a good guy, helping to keep the venomous population down.

Another journey. Another happy tale. You guys always manage to find some fun no matter which road you choose. That is a good trait to have since some people always find the negative. Life at your stage should be about finding your joy and your happy place. I think you’ve found the way. Just point your vehicle down the road and look for an unexplored path. You’re sure to find something you’ll like. You keep me intrigued about the Blackstone griddle. I haven’t convinced my other half that we need it. But I keep hinting because it looks like an awesome, fun way to whomp up some good eats - no matter where you are. Those tacos looked so good and I could practically smell them sizzling on the griddle. I don’t even like spicy food and they still looked delicious! 😋 Until next time.....keep having fun, documenting the journey and be sure to share with your fans! Bye bye from NW Florida.

We did our Sunday drive yesterday, drove through town and took the first left, some gravel roads in the north part of the county. I remember the sound of Grandpa's '53 Chevy pickup going up through the gears on an old back road. Windows down, he was always looking for a new fishing spot. Lost him at 12, I was always out in the woods, walked the 12 miles up to the city reservoir, fish in the creek along the way, for a week at a time, many times. One of our favorite meals is diced chicken, add the salsa right to the skillet after browning, some lettuce, tomato and bacon ranch dressing on lightly browned corn tortillas. The salsa is absorbed into the chicken, not so messy. Great video, once again....James

Hey guys because of your video about the Rad Power bikes we finally ordered two bikes today. So you should see a nice credit coming your way soon. It took us a long time to decide which styles to get, fat tire vs regular tire, plus color and design. Finally today we pulled the trigger on a RadCity 4 Commuter in black for me and a RadCity 3 Step Thru for Katie. So thank you for the $100 discount. Also we would really like a trailer like you guys have but those guys are so far away from us in Portland, Oregon. Have you pulled the trailer with the new van yet? We are looking forward to doing some long rides and having no fear of up hills sections of the roads. Recently we took our regular bikes to a State Park that was way up hill from a 25 mile bike path near by. We rode down and found that the first mile was all down hill. All I could think about was having an ebike! We turned around and the mile of up hill was terrible. That will soon be a memory to never be relived! Thanks!

We greatly enjoy your videos every week. I want to ask you a question but don’t use Facebook so I’ll just do it here. Your Amazon page lists the Waggle RV Pet Monitor. We desperately need a van temperature monitor and I want to know if you still use this one and can enthusiastically recommend it? I would need one that operates on cellular.
@VANTREKKINGlifestyle
3 жыл бұрын
Hello Mark. Thanks for being with us. We have used Waggle in the past but when we went to Alaska it didn't work there. It has to be on a negative Verizon network to work properly. And here at our home that's not the case. So since it didn't work in Alaska we did not renew that year and have not renewed since then. But, we do recommend it. In fact there are many times we wish we had it for Maggie. When we're in hotter temperatures we can leave the air conditioner running for 2 to 3 hours and be relatively sure that she's going to be safe. But it would be nice to be notified if something happened to the temperature if something went wrong. If you live in an area that's covered by Verizon and usually travel to those areas then we highly recommend that you use it if you want to keep your pet safe. If you are not always in those areas then you'll probably find that something you need to rely on is not as reliable when you're not on the Verizon network. Hope this helps. Thanks for being with us.

I’m loving your trip to West Virginia. I’m intrigued….how do you plan a trip like this…how did you know the names of dirt roads, where the dirt roads go and how to find an alternative when roads are roped off like the one you encountered?
@VANTREKKINGlifestyle
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jackie! Well, it’s a new skill for us for sure… and we’ll do a video about it really soon. Unlike rolling from state park to state park or boondocking spots when you’re overlanding on dirt roads there’s quite a bit of pre-planning. You usually have zero cell phone coverage, in our case for days, so you have to download maps before leaving WiFi or home. We use 3, maybe 4, apps/maps to find where to go on dirt roads. The first is GAIA GPS, It has lots of layers of different maps like roads you can travel on, private and public land, TOPO, etc. We also use the app OnX Offroad. Similar to GAIA but it has crowd-sourced trails that rate how difficult the trail is and even has pictures of waypoints along the route. Unfortunately like most things here on the east coast, the number of marked trails is less than on the west coast… but it’s getting better. And, when we’re “out there” we use the navigation system on our Sprinter van because its maps don’t require LTE… if you look when we’re bouncing around you’ll see that map up all the time. Just this week GAIA released their Apple CarPlay feature so that may be up a lot from now on. So when our next route is closed off we already kind of know because of pre-planning where the next route is. We put those coordinates in the Sprinter map and head that way. When we get close Lynn brings up GAIA or OnX and we start bouncing down the dirt roads again. Hope this helps. Let us know if a video showing and explaining would be good too. Thanks for always being with us no matter where we’re bouncing and what we’re bouncing in… that means the world to us.

Love your channel! Can't understand the need for bear spray. I have personally encountered bears in the wild with cubs in both Tennesse and Arkansas. Did NOT feel endangered. Research how many bear attacks actually occur. More likely to win the lottery than get attacked by a bear.

We bought the bear spray when we went to Alaska and still have it for “just in case” situations we get in. Owen always says it’s our protection for 2 legged bears.

Aren’t you ever afraid out there all alone?

So far we have not been afraid. That’s the best thing about traveling in a van if we do get afraid we can just leave.

It is the east coast probably never more than 20 miles from a gas station.

Because we didn’t have any cell service it was a little hard to plan on refueling, and not every gas station has diesel, we definitely need to get better. We also realize we probably need to carry extra just in case.

I always get so jealous of BLM land and the West, thanks for this reminder of what we have in our backyard

We get jealous of all the BLM out west too. That was reason we went searching for what is close by. Thanks so much for watching.

I hope you don't stick that van somewhere you can't get out and the towing company charges you thousands

Suggestion: look into Comers Rock, Virginia and Grayson Highlands State Park Virginia. Neither of them is too far from where you live and they both have really nice network of gravel roads for you to enjoy and explore. We have driven the roads in our 21 foot Winnebago Solice class B with no trouble, but there are some areas we did not get into that are definitely four-wheel-drive!

Thank you so much for the suggestions, we’ve been to Grayson Highlands SP, but not to do dirt roads and we will definitely check out Comers Rock. We love it when people give us suggestions.
