Generally speaking, I don’t think new gear gives us better quality. However, newer gear often has the capability of increasing efficiency due to ease of use, ergonomics or other features and that efficiency aspect allows for a better service provided. Really good video and just subscribed!

I had the same bag for my first couple years in RE Photography. About 3 years ago I switched over to Peak Design for the modularity. I do a lot of other "fun" photography and I love the way it allows me to quicky and effeciently swich roles. I really need to get more content on my KZitem channel, having done this full time for 7 years now. Love the content you put out, great quality stuff brother!

Nice video. I've been shooting real estate for about 7 years and for anyone who cares I'd highly recommend three pieces of gear. 1. Peak Design Quick Connect Strap. Honestly if you shoot handheld at all this is must have IMO. 2. Remote Shutter Triggers. A no brainer for flash, but even without flash the convenience of standing anywhere to take a photo is huge. You can get cheap chinese triggers off eBay and they work great. 3. Geared Tripod Head. Can get a little pricey, but worth every penny if you use a tripod every day. Also nice guitar. ESP? I love that colour on quilted maple.

Hey man, thanks for the recommendations! I believe that’s the peak design strap I have. Yeah I’ve tried the remote shutter but it’s just an additional thing to carry and the 2 sec timer is fine for me, I know others swear by them. How big are geared tripods? I love how small and lightweight the one I use is. And thanks! It’s a schecter actually. 👌🏻

@@AndreiRestrepo Remote shutters are pretty small and quick to set up. 15 seconds or so at the start of every shoot, and batteries last ages. Geared heads are bigger and heavier than standard ball heads, but the precision makes it worth for me. I use a Manfrotto 410 for reference. I'm sure there are weights listed online.

Excellent video. I have the Canon M50 with the Laowa 9mm f2.8 = 13.5mm full frame, which has been great for shooting real estate. But on rare occasions, I will shoot a house with very poor natural light on a cloudy day and miss the Sigma 16mm f1.4 with the Viltrox speed adapter. Like you said, the lens with the adapter gets heavy. But for 95% of my shoots, the Laowa is about as good as it gets for this aps-c. I don't ever feel the need to upgrade because of the industry "makes" something old/obsolete. If the drone, lens, etc is still performing at a high level, no need to replace. The old saying applies, if ain't broke, don't fix it.

Yup, that’s the mentality! Couldn’t have said it better. Occasionally some of this gear has some limitations for me but it’s rare and most of the time is plenty for this type of work. Thanks for watching!

Been binging your videos all morning - wanting to jump in to real estate photography, and your videos have been SO helpful. I currently have the R6 with the 24-70mm, same mount adapter you've got, and a 50mm for detail shots. I've been window shopping some wider angle lenses, but they're not quite in the budget right now. The internet seems to be all over the board as far as what's "recommended" for RE photography and lenses. I tested out my 24-70mm in our home (our house is small - apx 750 sq ft) and this lens just isn't doing the job, so it worries me that it may not do the job when I get hired on to shoot other houses. In your opinion, will this lens suffice until I can upgrade? Or should I just invest in a different lens now?
@AndreiRestrepo
Жыл бұрын
Hey! Glad to hear you’re finding the content valuable! You’re right, 24-70 is a great lens but not wide enough for real estate photo work. Before the 15-35 RF, I used a EF 16-35 F/4 IS which was a great lens! New it’s $999, but preowned could be in the $700-$800 range. I get a lot of my gear from mpb.com, you should check it!

Thanks so much! Definitely, I used the EF version of that kens for the longest time, the 16-35 f/4! Great lens to get started with, especially being able to film at 14mm. What camera are using it with? The only times I wish I had an f/2.8 lens was for darker rooms but like I said, great lens for RE still!

@@AndreiRestrepo thanks for quick response. It will be used with the original eos R. So sadly only 1080 due to crop. I have seen your videos on 5dmkiv with ef 16-35mm F4 and these look high end :) Hopefully when I get started in new year and get basics of editing videos the set up of eos r and rf 14-35mm F4 will allow me to deliver quality RE videos. Eos R is a great camera! Pretty good low light performance too, so you should be just fine! When I’m filming interiors, it’s as wide open as it can be. So f/2.8, or f/4 for you. Then the o it other thing you can do is raise your iso for darker rooms.

Thanks Andrei!!! Question about the lens filters. Do any of the filters allow for more dynamic range in video? I am trying to get less blown out windows in my videos but I have found it very had to achieve. I do shoot in log profiles, but even then it's hard to expose well inside and not get blown out windows. I have a Sony a7III and shoot HLG3 for inside and Slog 2 for outside.
@AndreiRestrepo
Жыл бұрын
Hey! Yeah, that’s the toughest part. A circular polarizer filter which I use for all RE shoots doesn’t help with windows, but helps with glares on floors and such, so “helps” a bit to get better DR there. And outside it deepens blue skies, honestly just helps all around. Only higher end camera with dynamic range can help for that. Thanks for watching!

You are awesome man! Do you know if the Canon C70 can be balanced on the Ronin S or would I have to upgrade my gimbal? Can you please post your exact ronin s settings? Every video i've seen uses the outdated app and I love your settings.
@AndreiRestrepo
Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! So as of recent, I've moved away from the Ronis-s (still have it) and using the RS3 Mini, since my setup is small enough! But basically I just use the pan follow mode, change the stick speed to about 10-15, and have the gimbal rotation to smoothly stop as well. And yes you can balance a c70 on the ronin s, you have to just use a counter weight on the tilt arm since it's so heavy on one side.

Ummm. So the comment that you don't need to follow some drone laws because your drone is under the weight limit is 100% false. The ONLY thing that being under 250 grams does for you is letting you skip a $5 registration fee, that's it, every other drone law still applies. AND that's only if you're not flying for commercial use, which you are if you're doing real estate. If you need to use it for commercial use you need to register it regardless of weight if you plan to fly it outdoors. You'll also find it pretty tough to get LAANC approval if you're not registered.
