Funny thing there, I remember when everything came in a brown paper bag. Then, the environmentalists said that we were cutting our forest too fast and we needed to switch to plastic. Even though companies like Georgia Pacific treated their tree farms as crops and harvested and planted sustainably. I am old enough to remember global freezing, cooling, ozone, and acid rain, "the earth has a fever," and now clomate change. I agree on the plastic. We use it too much. I guess you need to follow the money. Guess I had to vent a little. 👍👍

It's been 4 years already since they started it seems so another 10 and it will start to show. Pneumoconiosis, dust or black lung, is still a big problem in a lot of industries like this. Hopefully it's only on film day they don't wear masks for it.

Though perlite has porous nooks and crannies that can help retain some water in the soil its real benefit is aeration, It retains some water but it also retains air, which helps with soil aeration. It also helps prevent soil compaction, helping facilitate good drainage in easily compacted clay soils.

What you are showing the public is so important. You have demonstrated the best form of carbon capture. You cut down trees and use the good parts, and the rest turn into dirt that stays in the ground. The best part is that it opens more space to grow more trees to suck more co2 out of the atmosphere. The only question I have is, have you looked into the level of arsenic in the Kelp Amendment? I know its natural but alot of seaweed amendments and compost have high levels of arsenic.
@scottsoper
5 ай бұрын
It would take a bit of study for me to truly get a handle on what would be considered a "high level of arsenic" in the soil. These days, even vary small amounts can be detected. I remember that my hometown was all worried over something like 3 parts per billion of arsenic or some such thing in the town's well water. It had been there all along but now it could be measured and made a big deal of.

I hope you will consider making and adding biochar to your planting mix. A high temperature biochar reactor wouldn't take up much space in your yard, could heat your drying kiln, and the added value as a soil amendment and long term carbon capture process is well worth looking into. A positive on climate change. Thanks for all the great videos you've been making!
@scottsoper

They do make charcoal from time to time; would that be similar? However I would not be adding that to the soil unless there was some specific chemical in the soil I was trying to capture. Perlite holds water in one of three ways: in between individual grains, in channels leading to the cores of the grains and on the highly irregular surfaces of each particle."
