Sick tip with the pull downs, even practicing the motion I can feel it concentrating the muscle a lot more
@hamzarashid2385
4 жыл бұрын
Notes: 1. Barbell Deadlift - Recommend doing it barefoot, so you're more anchored to the ground, feet about shoulder width apart and hand positioning hold where its comfortable. Sink the hips down, neutralize the spine, get the bar underneath your shoulders. Most important thing when you initiate the movement is to power through your glutes, thrusting forward, and then pulling upwards. At the top of the movement, squeeze your glutes. 2. Dumbell Row - When it comes down to any sort of rowing movement, one of the most important things is to retract your scapula. Pull back the scapula, driving with your elbows and finishing at a 90 degrees angle. Get in the position, neutralize the spine, drive with the elbows and then squeeze your lat. Take your thumb out the equation and use straps as well. 3. Lat Pull Down - when it comes down to any sort of vertical pulling movement, the first movement should be to depress the scapula, which actually engages your lats. If you don't, then the majority of the work is being done by the bicep. 4. Hyperextension - Great exercise for building your lower back and glutes. If you want to engage more hamstring and glutes, keep your spine completely straight. Go all the way down, keeping your spine straight and squeeze your glutes at the top. Make sure your heels stay on top of the platform. If you want to hit more of your lower back muscles, then bend a little bit more, just keep everything under control. 5. Bent Over Row - The angle at which you're rowing determines which part of your back do you mostly engage. Supinated (engages more bicep), Pronated (hands down). Get to position, bend over wherever it feels comfortable and keep that spine neutral, head down, pull and then squeeze.

My lower back fatigues really quickly and starts aching from doing squats and deadlifts I think it might be because I have a weakness in my posterior chain there somewhere which would make sense cos I don’t train them enough if I’m honest, would hyper extensions or something else like hip thrusts help this issue?

training your core is very important. A strong core will prevent injuries. Always warm up properly and start doing the movement with the bar only just to get the technique right. Another key point is breathing and bracing. If you don't know what it is just look it up on KZitem. If you Master that you won't injure yourself

Honestly - dont watch Mike for tips on the deadlift or Squat. I like the guy and have followed him for years but he's never been a great squatter or deadlifter. Not only did Mike show proper form, but he showed control on the dead lift and didn't "slam" the weights / barbell on the floor. In the gym I go to, some of the guys will lift and then it seems they just "drop" the barbell to the floor instead of a controlled decent.
