The short film made in conjunction with the British Museum & KCHR for a workshop on the Indian Ocean Trade held in Kerala in 2012 highlights the concept of chaîne opératoire, a concept used in anthropological discourse. Here, Dr. Sonali Gupta-agarwal narrates the deep processes embedded in the production process of pots produced in the idyllic town of Pattanam. A study of material production processes can shed light on hitherto hidden aspects.
The workshop was made possible with the help and guidance of Dr. Roberta Tomber of the British Museum & P.J Cherian of KCHR. Dr. Sonali Gupta led the Ethnoarchaeology workshop along with Anuradha Nambiar. Other team members supported the film production.
