Hey Etho, I recently became a big fan of your lets play. And i was wondering, how do you deal with all the praising in the comments. Sometimes the entrire commeng section is just people saying how they grew op with you and how they think you are so awesome. Now dont get me wrong I also find you awesome, but isnt it hard to not get very narcisistic with all these people praising you, and the pressure of knowing you made peoples childhood. How do you make sure you do not become a very egoistic person with all these comments? (Sorry for my bad english im not a native speaker)

I know a bit about human psychology and a conclusion I reached a few years ago is that self-worth and good character must come from within. Whether people tell me I am amazing or I am the scum of the Earth, it doesn't really matter because those are external view points. What matters to me is that I make decisions and treat people in a way that I feel is right, so that I do not feel guilt or shame with myself for what I have done. I want to feel content of my actions, not because people tell me I should feel content, but because I can tell myself I am.

I'd say don't keep the guard rail, but for a more technical reason than an aesthetic one. Since your angle against the cauldrons will almost never be exactly 90 deg, there will always be a non-zero chance of placing lawva directly on the guard rail's face, directly above the flowing water.

@@godofsquirrels494 Your and Sean's arguments are invalid :) Not your opinions btw, just the arguments you mentioned here. See: 1. GoS: "Fahrenheit is better when referring to how people feel temperature". This is not objective as there is no objective way to measure how people feel anything. It's entirely about what you're used to. 2. Sean (modified to more clearly express how I interpreted his argument, though he might not have intended it as one): "Celsius is efficient and logical. Humans are not efficient or logical. Therefore Celsius is not the best option for humans." This is not valid because it does not follow from A and B not sharing a property that they are somehow incompatible. Humans aren't entirely efficient or logical, but that does not mean that using abstractions which are those things would not be beneficial or even natural. 3. What would be a valid argument to use Fahrenheit is that you are used to it and do not see enough benefit to getting rid of it in favour of having the all of humanity using the same units.

I don't think etho has any plans of stopping what he's doing for the foreseeable future, we know this from the minecraft mueseum idea of his, he clearly wants to keep going, but is just worried about running out of content, to the point he wants to implement this neverending project for us, which kind of makes me feel guilty to be honest. Etho is one of the founding fathers of redstone engineering and minecraft youtube in general, and he has an incredibly unique mind and knack of thinking outside the box and making discoveries. We are all incredibly lucky to experience what it's like to be inside the mind of a genius, but I also wonder if Etho was bound for greater things, like making real world breakthroughs, but he loves us and the game too much to think about bigger goals. I'm working on my doctorate in Biology, I just hope that I can be half the thinker that Etho is. I get solace knowing that even though it may seem selfish to keep etho "all to ourselves", I think that whatever I or any other Etho fan achieves in their lives will be bolstered by what we have learned from him.

Hey Etho! So I built the shulker reactor myself in a world to test it and I thought I'd share some of the issues I encountered and the solutions I came up with. I'm sure you're already aware of most of this, but thought it might be useful to you. I found that you'll get hit by the shulker pellets every once in a while, which would either cause you to fall out of the farm, thus killing you, or make you need to heal which would eventually lead you to starve. I'm not sure why it would happen, it seemed quite inconsistent and sometimes the farm could run for more than an hour without getting hit, other times it would happen every five minutes. Either way, I was able to mitigate it by using walls and signs in such a way that kept you inside the water stream even if you get hit. Pair that with a regen beacon and you won't die. Unfortunately it kind of messes with the aesthetic of the farm though. Another issue was that a lot of the shells would fall on top of the shulkers and eventually despawn, cutting down on the rates. I was able to prevent that by flushing the inside of the reactor every 4 minutes, similarly to how the outside gets flushed. This helped quite a bit with the rates of the farm. I didn't play around with the outer walls really, so I'm excited to see how the changes you're making will affect the rates. Just some insights I thought I'd share. I really love the farm, it's such a fun concept and I'm excited to see how it'll end up!

To the point on rockets, i keep 2 stocks in my rocket box. Rocket 1s for "daily drivers" where you just need to do short hops between areas or around a build and Rocket 3s as "cruise missiles" for when you want to go someplace a few thousand blocks away. A good example of this in your world would be use rocket 1s when building and around the mancave area where you have most of your stuff (it is the oldest most historic part of the world after all, and was built when travel was much slower) and then use the cruise rocket 3s for getting to your amplified base or other general exploration. I do understand the convenience of not needing to pay attention to rocket types, and also am curious if increased flight duration is gunpowder efficient or not (ie if 1 duration last 1 second do 2 duration last 2 seconds or say 1.5 seconds) PS: don't use rocket 3s in the nether, thats a very good way to faceplant into a cliff and lose everything. Edit: checked the wiki, flight duration is given as Ticks = 10(#gunpowder +1) + rand(0,5) + rand(0,6) Meaning that it is technically most gunpowder efficient to use duration 1 rockets. (2 flight 1s are worth 2*(20+(0,11)) vs 1 flight 2 worth (30+(0,11)))

Wouldn't (0,11) be wrong? Due to it being (0,5) + (0,6). I feel like that'd form a normal probability distribution, with the most likely number being around 6 to 7. I could very well be wrong though. This is the first time I've seen probability notated like this. If it even is a notation of probability... I'm making a lot of assumptions here, so I wanna make it clear that the question is as far from rhetorical as possible.
@jasonreed7522
2 жыл бұрын
@@wj11jam78 i was just showing the total range of the randomness, technically i should have expressed it with interval notation as [0,11]. And since i assume the 2 rand functions have an even distribution, the average should be 2.5 + 3 = 5.5 ticks. However, the point i was making was that on average for the same gunpowder cost you get: 3 Flight 1s ≈ 3*(10(1+1)+5.5) ≈ 76.5 ticks 2 Flight 2s ≈ 2*(10(2+1)+5.5) ≈ 71 ticks 1 Flight 3 ≈ 1*(10(3+1)+5.5) ≈ 45.5 ticks Kinda surprised by just how big a drop it is from 2s to 3s. Technically, you do save on paper and inventory space but by the time you get elytra its most likely that limiting resource for flight is gunpowder. I may need to rethink my rocket policy considering the math.

Hi, Etho- I know that you must get a lot of comments just like this one, but I was thinking about the past, present, and future the other day and couldn’t help but be appreciative of you and the role your videos have played in my life. I have been (like many others) here from the beginning; I was 8 years old when you began this series and, despite my insanely short attention span, I followed it religiously. Now I am 19 years old, and I cannot genuinely say there have been many constant things in my life, but one thing that certainly fits that description is you and this channel. Just to put it into perspective, in that time I have gone from 3rd grade all the way through middle school, high school, and I’m now halfway through college. I have a good job, a car, a good grip on my future, I’m looking for roommates and apartments. Friends, acquaintances, and romances have seemingly come and gone like flashes of light, and my own personality has made switches and developments beyond my wildest expectations more times than I can count. Through this time I’ve seen the rise and fall of the Mindcrack server, I’ve seen YOUR relationships with people change, grow, fall, end. I’ve seen your branching out into modded Minecraft, I’ve seen your many adventure map series, I’ve seen the UHCs (and the thousands of different animations and kinetic typographies of the moment from season 4(?) where it came down to just you and Guude and you won with half a heart). I’ve even seen the rise, peak, fall, and resurgence of Minecraft itself, the slowing of this let’s play series, but your steady commitment to bringing us all videos and never failing to find new adventures and projects in a world which many people would have deemed “finished” many years ago. I have seen MYSELF fall away from playing and watching Minecraft, but am happy with my slow return to the game and to your videos and many others. But most importantly, through it all I’ve seen YOU develop in an unbelievable way; as I’ve heard you acknowledge yourself before, it’s crazy that the guy from episode 1 of Etho Plays Minecraft is the same as the Etho we all know today. The slow emergence your personality has made over these many years is astounding-however, to tell you that I’m proud of you I do not believe is really my place. Only you can do the self-analysis that determines how proud you are of your own developments… but regardless, I think we can both agree said developments have been for the better :) I’m still young, and I know I still know very little, but one thing I have learned as I’ve grown is the importance of constancy in a person’s life. I’ve also learned just how tough it is to find things that can be deemed as such. So the fact that I can still open my phone, get on KZitem, and often see a new upload from you is something that I don’t think I’d ever be able to thank you enough for. You’ve long been a beacon of happiness, purity, nostalgia, and entertainment in my life, so much so that even my dad lights up when he hears your voice come over the speakers-“Is that Etho??? I can’t believe he’s still making videos!” What you’ve given to me and to many others is the gift of something constant (and a very GOOD something constant, at that), which is much more than any of us could ever ask for. Something I want to stress to you is that you could disappear unannounced from KZitem tomorrow, and that would be okay. The gift you’ve given to all of us is more than many people put out into the world in their entire lives. Even if that may sound silly to say about recording yourself playing a video game and putting it on the internet, I swear that it’s true. So I hope that you know that if up-keeping the channel ever started to feel less like fun and more like an obligation, many of us would be understanding and supportive of a stop. We know that you’re a person with your own life, just like us, and whatever choices you make in the name of bettering yourself, we will be behind without hesitance. All this is just to say: thank you. I will never stop enjoying your videos, or hearing your voice, or seeing that upload notification. EthosLab will forever be my favorite KZitem channel, not because it’s inherently the best or most productive or most creative or most diverse, but because of the anchor is has acted as throughout the majority of my life. Thank you again for all your hard work, dedication, and just all you do in general. I hope this message finds you in good health! Your fan always, Michael Brungardt

When we first got elytra on our old server, we played around with the rockets and elytra physics. We challenged ourselves to see if we can travel between our bases (~1000 blocks apart) with as few rockets as possible. What surprised us was that with 1 rocket, you can get basically infinite air time and distance with the right finesse of your flight angles. Basically, you try to fly at barely less than horizontal, and when you start losing speed, you do a -45 degree dive and back up. If you do it correctly, you can actually break even or even gain height after your dive, all this without a single rocket. I'm sure this isn't news, but I haven't seen this talked about much online, probably because it's not super practical and kinda tedious to pull off, and rockets are cheap, but I wanted to share anyway. Love your videos Etho, always looking forward to the next one, no matter what series it is :)

I just appreciate the iterative progress in how Etho presents himself and his gameplay. Before I felt more that he turned on the camera and just played the game, letting us see what he was doing. Now he has more of a presentation style where he does stuff and shows us his findings. However, Etho always has been true to himself and played what he wanted and how he wanted. Many thanks Etho and to many more episodes of vanilla or modded, single or multiplayer.

I think go without the guard :) it looks nicer and you won't be afking so you'll already have to be paying attention somewhat with the farm, like if you got buckets in your hand, etc. What's a little more paying attention! Also the farm looks great!

the shulker reactor is a nice example of selection pressures, as the ones that are inside die off and can't reproduce only the ones on the outside survive, so evolution takes its course.

Etho, as an adult fan who became exposed to Minecraft to bond with my kids during Covid, I just wanted to say thanks for the wholesome content that shows integrity in the way you play. It’s great to watch these episodes with my kids and show them that the fun should come from learning, experimenting, and figuring things on your own and not taking the easy route. For us, that is what the game is about and you are a tremendous roll model for that type of play.

Hey Etho! as a fellow Canadian, i think it would be pretty cool if you did a project to show ur Canadian pride! Maybe like decorating a build, creating a monument, or making a Canada biome. I love this country and i think it’d be great to show some Canadian spirit in the world, eh? 🇨🇦

Hey Etho, one of the most exciting changes coming in 1.18 (which you didn't mention) is that Mobs will only spawn at light level 0, down from "any under light level 8". That means half as many hidden lights required, and approximately 99% less creepers in the Mancave.

22:50 duration 3 rockets will actually be a bit more useful if they ever re-add the elytra changes they had in the experimental snapshots, as the elytra would only lose durability with a rocket boost, so using duration 3 rockets would allow for more efficient travel in terms of durability
@RuthlessDutchman
2 жыл бұрын
Selling rockets with different durations on HC would be interesting and sometimes people do use long distance flights. Then just give them a new name and design in the resource pack for shop exclusivity. Heck re-skin them as flight tickets
@interesting9688

but you'd still have to wait for the rocket to stop before landing like etho said.

The new caves look really good, and on top of that they're massive. They're going to be fun to go caving in but do you have any ideas for building projects you could do in them? I'd suggest a "mancave 2.0" type thing - it can be more modern too.

My favorite series on KZitem. Haven’t even played mc since ~2013 but I still enjoy your content, particularly your singleplayer world because I think you shine when you can do things as you feel inspired and not have to feel the pressure of having such a time commitment to having a comparable setup to other players on the hermitcraft server for example. Also, I say remove the front guard - it’ll be easier to access, and if any buckets fall up front you can easily grab them when you’re leaving and/or use them to top off the almost full shulker boxes
