I owned this stove for well over 10 years. Starts off with higher heat but then has a longer lower heat burn than most of my other stoves unless a simmer ring is applied. IMO because the priming pan/outer burner/windscreen heats the inner burner at startup. This causes increased vaporization of the fuel. However once the outer burner/priming pan/windscreen cools the inner burner runs at a lower rate for a longer time. This makes for a nice initial boil then use for cooking. That's my best guess.
I bought mine years ago. The stove has a few changes but is basically the same today.
