Hi there Audi owners. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the best vehicle wiring options for our 2017 Audi Q7. Here, we have our two best wiring options. The option on the left is the one from Curt 00:00:11 and the option on our right is the one from Tekonsha 00:00:13.In most aspects, these wiring harnesses are gonna be basically identical, but there are a few minor differences between them and we'll cover those now. This is our Tekonsha harness and as you can see, the module is relatively small, which is nice to be able to fit it into smaller areas. Versus our Curt here, which is quite a bit larger. As you can see here on our 2014 Audi Q7, we've got the smaller Tekonsha module installed and we're able to take our wiring and tuck it all up into the little compartment behind our taillight. Whereas if we we're using our Curt, the Curt itself would take up just about all the space inside of our compartment here leaving no place for our wiring, which would require us to have to route it into another location and store it somewhere else making a lot more work for us.I will say, however, the Curt does have a higher output at five amps on the stop turn circuit, while our Tekonsha only has 4.2 amps on the stop turn.
They both offer 7.5 amps on the taillights, so if you need that higher output for your stop and turn circuits on your trailer, if you got a lot of lights. Big light bars for your taillight assemblies, then the Curt may be the better option for you.Other than that, our harnesses are basically identical. They're gonna have the same outputs. To make the connections to your vehicle, you're gonna get length of wire to run it to your battery. You'll have your fuse protection and they're both gonna come with quick splices, zip ties and sticky pads to get everything mounted up.Regardless of which module you choose, you will have to quick splice your wiring into your existing wiring on your vehicle.
Both of our modules are gonna be fuse protected and they come with a fuse harness. However, on a Q7, if you have the option to hook it to a fuse panel in the back, it's gonna save you a lot of time rather than running it up to your battery. You can purchase fuse tabs here at Etrailer.com to make your installation much easier. So, in conclusion, when it comes to the overall power output, I'm gonna have to give that to the Curt because it does have more on the stop turn circuit. When it comes to the ease of installation, I'm gonna have to give that to Tekonsha because of its smaller module size and this can really make or break it when it comes to the install. If the module don't fit, the whole thing's a bust. So, in my personal opinion, I would go with the Tekonsha due to that smaller size. That completes our look at the best vehicle wiring options on our Audi Q7..
