Automated manual transmissions like the Volvo I-Shift or the Eaton UltraShift Plus or the Mercedes-Benz PowerShift will automatically shift to low speed climbing mode (usually L1 or L2). This type of trannies have not been introduced to Japanese trucks yet, but the Japanese truckmakers might have to develop such a transmission in the future in order to be competitive against truckmakers like Scania or Volvo or Mercedes-Benz Trucks ( Mitsubishi Fuso might get an advantage against domestic rivals if they can adopt Mercedes-Benz's PowerShift AMT of parent Daimler Trucks).

@@MrJapan103 when you have to do hill climbing with heavy equipment, you might have to change powerplants. That means getting the most powerful engine you can get.
