The EU AI Act is nearing the finish line in the legislative process. But whether it is worth its paper or not will depend on how it will be enforced in the next few years. This talk will take you on a ride of the improvements in the AI Act since its first draft in 2021, many in the form of band-aid solutions, and the frailties that persist: from its reliance on self-assessment by companies to legalising emotion recognition systems to setting weak provisions for AI systems without well-defined purposes to the potential litigations that could cripple its implementation and enforcement.
