Four alumnae of the first Women's Academy for Rural Innovation visited Brussels earlier this month and brought the voice of rural women to the very heart of EU policymaking.
Anastasia from Greece, Darja from Slovenia, Telma from Portugal and Sofie from Denmark made a big impression during The Women’s Academy for Rural Innovation in Spain last autumn. This month they brought the same energy, vision and dedication to Brussels and made the case for women from rural regions across the EU.
Key stops were the European Parliament and the European Commission to discuss the challenges facing women in agriculture. At a Rural Celebration, the four alumnae had the chance to meet inspiring mentors and showcase the skills they acquired at the Academy. Besides these activities and the continuation of their leadership training sessions, they took part in a Women Leaders’ Lunch alongside outstanding female innovators who are shaking up Brussels, and were able to engage in further discussions on how local economies can grow sustainably and benefit from the opportunities offered by new technologies.
Our four alumnae relished the chance to share their views in Brussels and have their voices heard. Onward and upwards, #RuralChangeMakers!
