Mike Tyson was a "converted south paw" meaning he was a left but used a righty stance. So fighters would lean into his strong side with out realizing most of the time. He had a great trainer who was ahead of the game at the time.

Don't forget Mike put that beating on Holmes for Ali. Ali reminded Mike about his promise he made years before when Holmes beat Ali. You could say Mike took it personal
@SJ-ty5rw

Ali was being childish . He and Don King .. were the one's who pressured Holmes into taking the fight . And basically gave him no other option as King controlled his fight purse . Holmes never wanted to have to take the Ali fight . To make it worse Ali called him a motherf***** before the 1st round began . Ali knew he was ill and this wasn't an exhibition fight , it was his fault for wanting this fight in the first place .

How did we go from Mike Tyson to having Floyd as the best?
@XCC23
2 жыл бұрын
Tyson and Floyd are very different boxers, yeah. (Also entirely different weight classes) But make no mistake, Mayweather is *disgustingly* good at boxing. It's just not as obvious as Tyson and his dynamite hands. Boxing against Tyson was like boxing against someone who had hands of steel and kept pushing at you. Mayweather might legitimately be the best defensive boxer of all time. The kind of shit he's pulled off in the ring is like, inhuman levels of skill. It's just not nearly as spectacular to watch as Mike "break ya face" Tyson.

So, there’s a lot more to the Goleta fight that people either don’t know about or don’t care to know about. From wikipedia: “It was eventually discovered that Golota was suffering multiple injuries that influenced his decision not to continue. At the hospital, it was discovered that Golota had suffered a concussion, a fractured left cheekbone and a herniated disc during the fight. Golota left boxing for almost three years before returning on August 14, 2003. Early in 2001, the Michigan Athletic Board of Control issued a three-month suspension to Tyson based on his refusal to submit to a pre-fight urine test, opting instead to take one after the fight. Days after his suspension was announced, it was discovered that Tyson had tested positive for marijuana after the fight. Because of this, his victory over Golota was overturned and changed to a no-contest.” Mike has stated that it was the only time he had smoked pot before a fight. He said his focus was so clear, he could see everything before it happened. The pot was discovered later and the win was changed to a no contest. Mike told Joe Rogan that he never smoked pot before a fight again out of fear he would kill someone.

The Tyson era was the start of pay per view and the end of me watching boxing. People were screaming for refunds after paying stupid money for one round. I heard he was good but I'd actually seen Muhammad Ali fights on tv so I didn't pay any attention. Football going to cable has had the same effect on me. It used to be broadcast over the air. Very few games are now. No sense paying for cable for a couple games. I'll see games at the pub if they interest me and only the second half. The more exposure you get to sports the more invested you are. You can't expect me to literally buy in to something I haven't been exposed to enough to care. Most of my life is spent away from home working. I already resent all the money I have to spend on a home I never get to enjoy. There's so much on every single cable channel that I'm not at all interested in. Now it's on the internet so....screw em.
