Really good insight into the route. I planned to ride Eurovelo15 last May but postponed that cycle trip. I’m riding Eurovelo 15 this May(2019) from Edinburgh-Newcastle then ferry to Amsterdam and ride to Rotterdam and then follow the river Rhine to its source. Your videos are great for seeing the cyclepaths and I love riding gravel. Looking forward to good food and beer and Spätzle!

Hi, I’m guessing that you are still on the route, or maybe gone further. I leave Manchester on the 8th July and ferry on the 9th. I’m hoping to cycle from Hook of Holland to Basel. Getting very nervous at the moment as the time draws near. Ive been planning so long, I just want to get on with it :). How has the route been?

haha we also had a hard time on the graveled road - it really slows your down. But when you reach the asphalt again - you appreciate it the good cycling condition much more :) cheers edi

After hours on the gravel, I almost suffered shaken baby syndrom. I had enough. I didn't know how long the gravel would go on, so I left the Euro 15 for a day. The part between Basel and Strassbourg was my least favourite of my journey on the Euro 15. I loved Speyer.

This is a great video, I very much enjoyed it. I will be traveling up the Rhine (as well as down the Danube, a train to Prague and down the Elbe) summer 2018. I really appreciate the critique and detail on the path/trails as well as the surrounding areas. Your style is perfect for this type of video, I have not watched your others (yet) but I hope that it does not change significantly.

Well....I hope my style got better significantly :-) I am still not happy with my video skills and work hard to get better. Anxiously awaiting your feedback on the others ;-)

Thanks so much for the video. I will be doing the EV15 in July. I’m going alone and a bit nervous but excited too. It’s great to see the paths that I will be taking. although I’m going the other way. Hook of Holland to Basel and then maybe the Danube.

Believe me, your style is really excellent. It is honest, straightforward interesting and humorous. I really like the unexpected and uncommon shots such as you preparing simple meals. There is a human touch not found in other touring videos. Thanks :)

That yellow rain cover on the helmet looks horrible. Looks like my grand-aunts shower cap. LOL

I enjoyed your video and thank you for sharing. I plan to do this route from Frankfurt Airport to Mainz and on ward toward Basel and then connect to Donaueschingen to Vieanna, via Eurovelo 6. Do you mind sharing this route? i have a route from Kamoot but i dont know how good the path is until i ride on it. But your route detour seemed to avoid alot of soft dirt road, which i would prefer. I plan to do this in July of 2023.

Very interesting........ I'm riding the Rhine Bicycle Route in May from the sea to source which will hopefully make an interesting and relaxing diversion from my many Iceland tours. I guess the route is signposted in both directions or do you just follow the river?
@Alpintiger

Farmer Palmer, nope, the route is very well signposted. The maps I liked best were those from PUBLICPRESS, Leporello Radtourenkarte. Waterproof and easy to use. They do have a bit of touristy information on them, but it's in German and I am not sure if there are English versions available :/

Get a suspension seatpost it soaks up the bumps from gravel.

My bum is hard as rock, so that wasn't much a problem. It was more the energy lost into the gravel while riding along :)
