1. This is extremely memorable, it was already playing in my head after the first listen. It’s simple but interesting and fresh. The message is great. The live was the messiest I’ve ever seen and heard but I believe there must have been some issues there with nerves, illness, getting out of breath with the choreography, sound mixing and/or hearing herself because singing like that can’t be turned into the great singing on the studio version even with autotune. The eurovision performance might not be vocally perfect but it’ll be way better.
2. I was contemplating putting this as number one until the disconnected rap-ish second verse. The song’s a bit messy and incoherent but I love a good power ballad, and the chorus and melody are absolutely gorgeous. Her vocals are amazing. I love that it’s in Albanian and I hope the imminent revamp will keep it that way and only add more oomph and orchestral elements to the instrumentation. I cannot understand the hate this entry’s gotten.
3. (Muted due to copyright) This is in no way bad, but it’s just my least favorite of the three. I’m actually blown away by the quality this year because usually the first few songs released are a bit underwhelming, but all three of these are great. It is pretty and somewhat emotional, but I do find it slightly boring and predictable, and I wish it built up a bit more. I am a bit salty about how hard France has leaned into the stereotypical French image after the masterpiece that was Fulenn inexplicably flopped, and I wish they’d send something more surprising again.
