In May 2003, Liverpudlian duo Jemini became the first British act to score nul points at the Eurovision Song Contest. Chris Cromby explained that the performance was impacted by a faulty monitor, meaning Gemma Abbey was unable to hear herself singing. Some, however, saw the score as a result of "political" voting, Britain's international standing having been impacted by the invasion of Iraq two months before. It's likely that a combination of political factors, the performance, and the song itself contributed to Jemini not only winning no points but coming in last place overall.
