Which apps do you use to find chargers and plan routes? Let me know which ones I missed!

I've downloaded EVGo before but never used it -- curious if anyone else has

All these apps are super useful for different situations. Totally used ABRP for our camping trip a few weeks ago to figure out the charging situation. Worked great!

Nice job Alex! This is extremely useful because there are still places without superchargers so alternate charging methods are always important

Alex: Wow! That was pretty good information. I’ve tinkered with A Better Route Planner quite a bit to set up hypothetical trips (if it ever gets to be safe enough to really go somewhere) and learned some things you can do for a really long (multi-day) trip. It lets you select charging points where you want to have an extended stop (for a meal, for example) and adjusts the charging time to be longer at that point and less at other points. You just select the charging location on the map and when the dialogue box pops up for that station you click on a little hamburger icon that says Long Break in the lower right corner of the box. The other thing that helps is once it sets up the total route, you can use the drive times shown to estimate stopping points for the night (at our age, 500 miles/day is the limit for our physical endurance), and then plan each segment separately so that you can start each day at 100%. There’s still parts of the country not ideal for electric car charging. Try setting up a round trip route from Wichita to Dodge City. It’s doable but not totally convenient. Thanks!

That's great to know! I haven't messed with it a bunch but it has tons of features.

Will this preheat your Tesla battery when going to a non Tesla charger?

Chargepoint sent me to a vacant lot but I found it on plug share as it was on a different road about a mile away!

Oh no 😂 glad you were able to find it. Some locations aren't 100% accurate, which is annoying

in that aspect, plugshare is better. plugshare give you gps coordination of the charging stations but not address. i recommand chargepoint to improve in that aspect.

Charge Point chargers almost Never work. I've had nothing but horrible experience with Charge point. I've tried them in Illinois, Missouri, Michigan, Wisconsin. Almost always issues where i am on the phone with support.

This is the first time I've heard of Google maps or any map application coming out with EV route planning which will be cool; I wonder if Waze will get on board with it also?

Google owns Waze so I would hope so!

We tour the USA in our P85. Our #1 goto app is the EVHOTELS.ORG app. It's specifically designed to find hotels with chargers.. and you can filter your favorite brand hotels too.
