Evangelia Kingsley sings Rodgers and Hart's To Keep My Love Alive with the Walla Walla Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Yaacov Bergman. Directed by Ron Spivak.
I like the fact that she sings several extra verses of the song not usually heard.

I've been married, and married, and often I've sighed "i'm never a bridesmaid, I'm always a bride" I never divorced them, I hadn't the heart Yet remember these sweet words, "`till death do us part" I married many men, a ton of them Because I was untrue to none of them Because I bumped off every one of them To keep my love alive Sir paul was frail, he looked a wreck to me At night he was a horse's neck to me So I performed an appendectomy To keep my love alive Sir thomas had insomnia, he couldn't sleep at night I bought a little arsenic, he's sleeping now all right Sir philip played the harp, I cussed the thing I crowned him with his harp to bust the thing And now he plays where harps are just the thing To keep my love alive To keep my love alive (bridge) I thought sir george had possibilities But his flirtations made me ill at ease And when I'm ill at ease, I kill at ease To keep my love alive Sir charles came from a sanitorium And yelled for drinks in my emporium I mixed one drink, he's in memorium To keep my love alive Sir francis was a singing bird, a nightingale, that's why I tossed him off my balcony, to see if he, could fly Sir atherton indulged in fratricide, He killed his dad and that was patricide One night I stabbed him by my mattress-side To keep my love alive To keep my love alive To keep my love alive

LOL!! Great performance of a fantastic song!! I particularly love that last gargling sounding "alliiivvve..." The white veil with the black dress sets it all up perfectly. :)

She is like a Rossini heroine doing her best to survive. I loved her performance in the mezzo key. So legit makes it more marvelous than those who camped it up. You are a royal diva! Unlike other interpretations, I understand how you captivated them. Brava.

I have heard this version done in so many ways and so many speeds but this is my favorite, the original. On itunes, most of the versions are jazzy, but there's an Ella Fitzgerald version that is wonderful. The version above is wonderful thanks to the chanteusse. Not my favorite show, 'A Ct Yankee' (although major Yankee fan) but was cute. Film with Crosby would have been nothing without Rhonda Fleming, so gorgeous. I am in my 20's and should not know this, but do. Love the classics. Mazel Tov!

Brava, Evangelia! You did a marvelous job with this song. I've performed this song myself for over 10 years and I never tire of it. I had NO idea that there were those additional verses (Sir Frank and Alfred). Can't wait to add those in for next time! :)

Ron, I had no idea you were involved in putting this together. You did a GREAT job in doing so! Ms, Kingsley's version of this song is just perfect. The first time I heard the song was in a Special Program in which Elaine Stritch sang it. I thought that was great but this tops it! By the way, I'd suggest that people look up your own performance of "Those Were The Good Old Days" from Damn Yankees. That, too is a classic! Thank you so much!

To the person who asked how this song might have gone down in 1927... The song wasn't written until 1943, for the Revival of the show. After Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Oklahoma!" opened, Hammerstein went off on his own to work on his adaption of Bizet's Opera "Carmen" into "Carmen Jones", and that's when Rodgers re-teamed with Hart for the revival of this show. Hart died just a few days after the Broadway Opening.

"To Keep My Love Alive" was not written for the 1927 version of the show. It was written for the 1943 revival of the show, and was one of the last lyrics that Larry Hart ever wrote before he died.

Here are more verses (not in order): Sir Charles came from a sanatorium And yelled for drinks in my emporium I mixed one drink -- he's in memoriam To keep my love alive. Sir Athelstane indulged in fratricide; He killed his dad and that was patricide. One night I stabbed him at my mattress side To keep my love alive, to keep my love alive. MORE TO COME!

Sir Frank brought ladies to my palaces. I poured a mickey in their chalices. While paralyzed they got paralysis To keep my love alive. Sir Alfred worshipped falconry; He used to hunt at will. I sent him on a hunting trip. They're hunting for him still.
