An Indiana business owner who runs a pizzeria called "The Slice" in Evansville could be fined $7,000 a day for letting a man live in a tent behind his restaurant.
Eric Weber said he was told by city officials his fine for allowing a man to pitch a tent near his shop starts at $500. In less than a week, that fee could balloon to more than $7,000 a day.
"Basically, persecuting me because he lives out in a tent behind the shop...if you're looking at the greater good in this situation, I mean: the aesthetics of the alley and taking care of a homeless person [sic]? Which one makes more sense?" Weber said.
