There is another Q trap line not covered in this video. 1.d4 d5 2. Nc3 Nf6 3. Bf4 c6 or c5 4. e3 Qb6. 5. a3, if Black plays Qxb2, 6. Na4 and Black's Q is trapped. Black's "best" response is to trade their Q for White's R on a1.

This is great. Jobava is so popular. The only problem with this is black doesn't bring out both knights like this very much anymore because they know things get really complicated.

Thank you GM Igor! I really like the Jobava London opening and you have shown me some new traps to use in this opening. I would like to make a request to you to please consider making some videos of you playing against opponents rated from 1500 upwards and include your thinking as to why you are making each move as you play. I would love to follow and try to understand your thinking process in those videos. Thanks!

In your video about dealing with when bishops pin your knights you say that it’s very bad to block with a move like Be2 but you do exactly that here in trap 8. How comes it’s ok here?

@abj136

It’s a weird question because if you are a better player you should not lose and you don’t need a video. Or maybe you got lucky and had a rating above your skill, and losing is getting back to normal. If you are better but are losing, it’s probably due to carelessness. Play more carefully and analyze your losses to see what mistakes you could have avoided.

@BB-wg3tw

Equalized, not an advantage. But yes, White has less tricky moves given that order. Key is to play the edge with Black's light squared bishop trapped behind its own pawn.

Play slower games, and make sure before each move that whatever you're doing isn't a blunder in anyway. Look for checks, captures, discovered attacks, forks, and other tactics. Blundering is part of learning tho! Just learn from it and don't let it happen the same way next time
