The band put an ad in a local Portland newspaper letting people know that the video shoot was taking place. A number of local high school kids ditched school that day to participate The director gave out a number of 8mm film cameras to the kids, and let them film the band. The band played the song several times. The footage was then edited together to make the finished product The students were later suspended from school, and Everclear received a nice little note from the Portland School Board

And before you even try to accuse me of not understanding addiction, let me start off by telling YOU that I have been strung out on heroin on and off again since I was 13 years old and am now 37 years old.... my only periods of sobriety were from either being locked up ir forced into sobriety by an abusive boyfriend/husband. . However I did choose to stay clean and sober for 8 years once... back when I was still a mother to 2 beautiful children that were taken away from me because I beat the shit out of my room mate when I caught her abusing them. I was 8 uears clean and sober and the state took the only reason I've ever had to not want to be completely numb to the world. After they took my kids from me, I had no reason to stay sober because they didn't just take my kids they took my rights away from me as well and made it so that I couldn't see them until they are 18. Idk why im telling yo u all this or why im so pissed off and offended by your idiotic statement trying to sound like you accomplished some amazing feat by litterally doing nothing different with your life........ but whatever..... enjoy your delusions of having had an epiphany after overdosing and turning your life around...ish. @hguest8488

Chris T. The problem is there is too much greed/fast money to be made in the unregulated/illegal drug trade (Though I do agree drugs should be decriminalized), and the subsequent police/prison system payout from the astronomically high arrest and recidivism rate of drug offenders - the state makes millions off of that guaranteed demographic yearly in the US pathetically. Second, OTC opiates/opiods, even stronger ones like oxys, are far pricier (espec "legally") and quite fast to build tolerance so that the average user either begins shooting them or buying gear/street heroin for less money (in theory - it's still a crazy expensive habit). Sure, pharmaceuticals like Fentanyl are stronger than street heroin, but produce no euphoria and are far too risky to take even as an experienced user bc of the high overdose potential/certainty. I was a H user and had surgery for a broken wrist - I woke up from anaesthesia screaming from pain so much that they shot me up w Fentanyl 5x and it was like taking a Tylenol bc my system was so out of wack after years of substance abuse that they were baffled. Point being, I started w oxys and morphine, legitimately prescribed, got cocky and thought I could handle it, then it was no longer enough and my life became a hellacious loop of scoring and using street bullshit. I'm lucky I didn't end up worse than I currently am, but the things I saw and respect for myself I threw away still linger. Morality becomes shockingly "flexible" when you're basically a slave to that crap, not even to get high but just so you can function and not get sick. My very long winded point is, in theory, I agree with you that substances should be regulated and decriminalized, but it's sadly not a likelihood. There are too many greedy people profiting, as the drug trade is capitalism in it's rawest, grimiest form, life is cheap in that world, the dollar speaks loudest, and even a "responsible" or legitimized user can slip...fast. I wish it were different, but it's supply and demand at its quickest and most base. Thanks for enduring my rant and God bless...

@@hguest8488 pharma fentanyl "produces no euphoria"? As a heroin/fentanyl addict of 10 years, sober for 2...I must object. After I got ahold of fent after my heroin binge of 8 years I would throw heroin back in the dealers face until they found some fent. Seriously, i would throw a fit if they tried to sell me heroin disguised as street fent...a patch of fent is ridiculously hard to get ahold of ever since the DEA slammed the hammer down on pain clinics...for better or far worse since all my OC/pharma opioid user peers ran straight from the dr to the dope/heroin man when they did and OD deaths skyrocketed out of control, but anyway...pharma fent definitely absolutely produces a euphoric high. I was a heroin girl for 5yrs but thankfully got clean in '97 and been clean since. My best friend-more like chosen sister killed herself due to her overpowering heroin addiction, she slit her wrists and throat. I'm the person who found her dead for at least 2 days in the bathtub in an abandoned apart(she had several places like this to hide and use). Rigor had set in, her body was like ice, all shades of blues and purples with clotted blood stuck to her like glue. The second I laid eyes on her I already knew what happened and why. I crawled into the tub with water still in it and pulled her into my arms while I screamed at the universe, God, EVERY God, how could you let this happen. I found her suicide note and it said what already knew. I called the people and had to send some "not exactly happy ppl" over to the present to for them to take her body for proper autopsy. My Best Friend Nemi had no bio family or any family wanted her back feeand was going to thrown into an indigent grave. Not while I'm alive. All the homeless ppl stepped up and offered what they could because she was one of US we were her real family. So 0we moved heaven and earth to make sure she could have a safe place to lay her weary head down and sleep the long sleep she'd been needing. The police do not care about homeless, street rats, why they ended up that way. Another heroin addicted friend was on his last leg, and shread of sanity. No one ever gave their real names(save this 1 time). I'm worried and go to check on him. The opened the door to hear a shotgun explode and ripped his face. I was wearing the shirt she gave me and as I picked up the injured.

Great heavy song - I was working on Korea when this album came out - I bought it on cassette. Because of Korean censorship laws, every time Alex sang the word ‘heroin’ it was beeped out. Oddly, it made the song even heavier and cooler- I miss hearing that’ locked inside my ‘beeeep’ girl ‘. You have to hear it to know what I mean lol.

+Chris Watson.. Thanks man. I know it will. This'll be the 4th time I'll go on it. Last time was on 4 of the 12mg films. I got pregnant with twin boys even though I was on the shot in a monogamous 5 year relationship. So I tapered off FAST. Got hooked again after having twins,that 1st shot of DemaMorph. November is a bad time in my area to find a Dr who isn't maxxed out on Sub patients. So January was as close as I could get. Been a 17 year junkie. Hope this ends it. Thanks man.

+Chris Watson whats suboxone is it same as subutex (a blocker tablet that can make u feel withdrawl symptoms if u use. sort of flipping it ??
@Plugchick420

TheDon101277 Suboxone is EXACTLY what Subutex is. Except it's got Nalaxone aka Narcan in it. When somebody overdoes on like Oxys or Fentanyl at the hospital they give them a shot of Narcan. It bloccs opiates, immediate detox. Been there,felt it. The reasoning behind adding Naloxone to Subutex = Suboxone. Example: an 8 mg strip of Suboxone has 8 mg Buprenorphine and 2mg Naloxone (Narcan). Its not so you Wong flip out it's cuz the Naloxone neutralizes other opiates equalling no buzz. Also depending on a persons tolerance, Suboxone dose etc, say you skip your Suboxone for 1 day and do H, Oxys,Fentanyl-something good , you could still have enough Naloxone in your blood to send you into immediate detox. Basically Naloxone was added so junkers can't use other opiates AND be on Subs. I've been on Suboxone since 2010. Two 12mg films and one 8mg film my current Rx. I been on it long enough and know my body well enough I get ten 100 microgram Fentanyl patches 1x a month and skip Subs. And an Rx of 80mg OxyContin. Hoped this cleared it up.

The saddest part about Everclear was that they were a great band. One of my favorites growing up honestly. I had the opportunity to see them about 2 years ago, and it was a huge disappointment. Art has completely lost his voice. You couldn't even hear him during the show, and he just looked fucked up. Sad really.

That's a bummer. My friend actually dated Dave French back in the early 2000s, and I do remember her saying they'd had some issues with backsliding after getting sober. Here's hoping he was just tired from life on the road, and not strung out again 😕

Jennifer F - why? I've been there and there becomes a point where death becomes more appealing than living as a slave to that crap and spending every cent you have/pawning once meaningful possessions simply so you can not feel the onset of sickness for a few fleeting hours. The fun is short-lived and you wake up one morning a shell of a human. I was disgusted by what it made me. Even vague memories of when the highs were knee-buckling can't erase the shame that still contaminates my memories of what I lost for a sort lived false promise of freedom from pain. I'm not knocking you or your specific experience, but we need to stop romanticizing this soul crushing affliction - if not for you, for someone inexperienced who might read well meant nostalgia and misinterpret that life as more fun than misery and not make it out like we did...

I take 4 80 milligram oxy extended a day along with 4 30 milligram of oxy instant release a day. So so roughly 450 milligram total a day. That is what is prescribed to me. All I can say is knowing the control it has over my life I feel bad for you if you really bang heroin on the regular. Its not worth what it takes to get off of it.

Nowhere in my previous comments did I ever say "I bang heroin on the regular" or that I use the drug at all for that matter. David Merrell, I'm sorry to hear about your situation, and unless you have aids, cancer, or some other excruciatingly painful disease, the amount of opiates you are prescribed is ungodly. I hope things work out for you. Honestly I was just kinda poking fun, looking for a reaction.
