Good episode----that storm looked pretty intense! Your sunsets and night shots are great---they add an extra dimension to the videos.

Great episode. I have never sailed a trimaran and I’m not sure how a wind rider tacks, but on a Hobie 16 the jib is left alone until you are through the wind because it will help push the bow around. Also the main is eased as you get head to wind so it doesn’t act like a weather vein. Maybe trying those techniques might help tacking the Wind Rider. Oh and unlike on a mono hull, you have to do a gradual turn as you tack instead of just dumping the rudder over like on a mono hull.

Thank you for the advice, I agree and I'll try that on my next outing

I think you would love solo ocean sailing. The spectacular nights are amazing, as are all the dawns and sunsets. And contrary to your experience, the nights are often more windy so the rule is reef down before going to bed. I sailed solo from Panama across the South Pacific the last two years, it was a blast, and this season hope to cross the Indian. I have some pretty lame videos up about it, but loving following yours, best account of the EC I have seen. Crossing the Pacific was a lot easier than that!

I'll be sure to check out your channel and thank you for the nice comments. I hope to get my 28' Morgan out on some long sails in the very near future. I'll start by crossing the Gulf before attempting an ocean :). Good luck to you on the Indian ocean crossing, that sounds awesome

Typically at sundown the differential heating of land and water subsides and the turbulence (wind)between warm and cold subsides as well.
