There's two main types of these permanent matches: generic shapes and stylized shapes. Broadly speaking, the generic shape ones (like the one in this video, variations on a flask or tube shape) seem to always have plastic threading and plastic caps that are easy to damage, along with seemingly allowing lighter fluid to bleed through and evaporate, or dissolve adhesives. The stylized ones (usually various forms of munitions) seem to consistently be all metal, and don't suffer from the aforementioned problems. The wicks on these are more like a simple yarn, and thus burn up quite quick. You can put a Zippo or similar quality wick in it to solve this durability issue. The best permanent match model is seemingly this Zorro rounded flask one, all metal, durable construction, and spins the match as you draw it, causing it to light. Only thing about that model that might be bad is some people say it doesn't seal as well as screw threaded model, but this might have been improved by now. Good vid!

Be careful if you carry one of these in your pocket. Leaking fuel will travel through pocket material and burn you.
