It’s crazy how I can listen to Mike and Alex talk about a band I have never heard of in my life and still enjoy it. Love this podcast

I thought I commented about this album here (upon further review, it was for a different channel). Anyway, the legend around this album is so fucking rad.

Also, Working Hard For Your Love kind of reminds me of early 90s Swans. I think in fact Xiu Xiu were on Gira's label at one point, so maybe that's not such a crazy association.

The skype episodes sound exactly the same as the in-studio episodes to me. I don't know what people are complaining about with the skype episodes, but I think it's all in their head.

Covering Ariel Pink’s catalogue would be lengthyyy, but very worthwhile. That crazy man can make music I tell ya, got to see him live twice. Incredible. Real wackadoo. By the way this album was a fascinating find, I absolutely love this channel

This is uniquely special. However, i wish i could say i havent heard stuff like this before. Mid to late 90s i use to swap home demos with other people online. Youd get the usual massive dork trying to be some marilyn manson meets bryan ferry fruitcake types. They only wished they could be this good! This is infinitely better. This is high art. This took heart and soul to create. Im not sure about cursed, but then again there are moments where i feel like something should be going on and its just kinda blank, save drums and a simple bassline. Ill need to relisten with headphones, because i definitely heard some otherworldly noises.

Also, it reminds me of something else that has now disappeared. There was this dude that sued nine inch nails over plagiarizing some of his demos. They were on KZitem for a while, and they were God fucking awful, nor did it sound like anything Trent would do. It reminds me of that stuff because that stuff DID sound cursed. It was very basic midi like this, then the loudest guitar ran through a metal zone pedal at full volume, man... Actually wish I could find it. I have a thing for terrible music.

Can you guys please do the band The Big F . There is a very interesting back story and origin which leads the band back to Berlin in the 80s. There two albums are awesome.

by 'this guy looks familiar', were you thinking of mark mckinney from kids in the hall? because that's the first thought i had looking at him also of note, this got rereleased on bandcamp through a label that, well, it seems weird their label name has a homophobic slur in it while mentioning he (supposedly) had AIDS in their description of the album. ordered the cassette anyway as soon as i got home because predictably the CD version is impossible to find online. it's missing two songs, weirdly ALSO also! the description of that clip mentions the director's commentary tracks says maskull was from germany, so going by that i think that is indeed him

sorry to keep adding to this, but possibly another trail to follow: a man by the name of robin brandel in another video's comments (one that mashes together fantasy/potion of love/to be or not to be) says maskull's real name is 'james', is likely still living in hollywood hills, and 'unicorn productions' was maskull's own label. robin also stated he did some engineering work for him (maybe *he's* the legendary tony ivaloni?). these comments were from 8 years ago but contacting him might be worth a shot
