My most used paintbrushes are 18 years old, and are still in a very good shape. If you take care of your brushes they will last a long time, cheap or expensive. I buy watercolor brushes for watercolor, and only use them for watercolor not even for gouache

Hi Chloe 👋🏻 ur brushes are simply gorgeous but I would suggest not having them bright white because the bristles will stain very easily. But it is so cool that you have ur own company so “do u boo” ❤

Also another thing, I've noticed with a lot of cheaper brushes , especially in the very thin ones one or two hairs stick out longer than the others....i mean longer than the normal tapered shape. It's going to affect the thin lines . Check that tooN
@ArtByFameli

Ayyyy thicker isn’t always better. Thick brushes with very soft bristles can hold TOO much water and paint (unless you’re using watercolor) and can get overloaded with paint and produce uneven application. Bristle thickness and softness 100% will depend on the type and consistency of paint you are using.
@ChloeRoseArt
Жыл бұрын
Ahh respectfully I disagree! It certainly can depend on the medium but from my experience with developing and using brushes for years now, my personal opinion is you’re better with a brush that has a lot of fibers almost all the time - even if it’s a thinner brush, volume of fibers matters because they can be packed in tighter together. In the example I showed a brush with more thickness versus thinner, as well as a really thick fluffy brush. Each one depends on what you want to use it for, but how it is cut makes the difference. The brush on the left is thicker but at the top it is cut thinner. The brush on the right has less packed in fibers but isn’t cut at the ends, so it’s fluffy and thicker at the ends. It really mostly depends on the cut. If you buy a big fluffy oval brush like I also showed, that’s not going to get you details, it’s better for bigger applications/watercolor washes for sure. But smaller brushes can be thick too, doesn’t mean it holds too much paint or gives less details, just means you don’t have to keep repeatedly adding more paint as frequently You can have a lot of volume of fibers but still have a thinner brush - doesn’t mean they are all fluffy. And more volume doesn’t mean flexible either, that’s why it’s good to find a brush that’s thicker with more flexibility too. If you don’t have a brush with a lot of fibers, often you will get TOO much flexibility that way because there aren’t enough fibers to hold it up/resistance. They’re usually more floppy the less thick it is. I use primarily acrylics and prefer thicker packed brushes because of how much paint it can hold. Thicker doesn’t mean a fluffy brush, thicker can be a small brush too, hence why I mentioned how it is cut is important/thicker at the base cut thinner at the top will allow for a good balance of paint to water and line. That way the base holds more paint but the top doesn’t, or you can just add paint to the tip You can always add smaller amounts to a thicker brush, you can add more or less paint with a thicker brush, whereas you can’t add more paint to a thinner brush. You’d only have overload and produce uneven application if you dip the brush completely and don’t wipe the edges clean. A good brush will hold the paint until it’s ready to be used. But yes, to some degree it is personal preference! But usually you’ll find higher quality brushes are packed thicker for those reasons.

Also dont be afraid to use make-up brushes! Even the cheapest ones at like 5 below or elf brand are better quality, and softer than cheaper paint brushes for some reason. 3 of my favorite brushes started out their life as a concealer brush (for most general painting) , angled eyebrow/shadow/liner/whatever brush (for small precise details) and a small kabuki (blending, dry brushing, covering large areas etc) those are just my favorites, i also highly recommend them for blending paints for ombres as well! Im also a nail tech so i use cheap acrylic kolinsky brushes for watercolor and paint as well....i deff use my supplies across all my hobbies lol

Both of them looks fine for me, used for different purposes of course 🤷♀️ i have all kinds of brushes - expensive, cheap, more or less fibers, tapered, more Round, more square, flexible, hard, going in all directions.... The only paintbrush I would call "bad" is the one leaving A LOT of hair after using (one or two is not bad imo). Even if it separates handle and metal piece you can glue it together... Not a good information

I stole this paint brush from my art class. It was a square shaped paint brush ( like the one in the video ). I've never used anything other than round brushes before and my painting sucked ass. After using that brush, it has legit become my FAVOURITE brush. I WORSHIP THAT BRUSH. Like you don't understand how MANY THINGS I CAN DO WITH IT!! I CAN DRAW FREAKING NICE ROCKS WITH IT!! Anyways, what I'm tryba say is the brush shape matters a lot and you shouldn't feel scared to explore different brush shapes. -Also stealing is good sometimes-

Just don't attempt to fold and "test" brushes in store. 90% of the time they are glued up with glue which gets dissolved in water and you will break them if you attempt to do this without water. Other then that nobody wants to buy a brush coated with skin oils and flakes so read reviews or ask consultant for recommendations. Writing just in case because I'm rapidly loosing my braincells over this every time I work at art supplies.
