Jardiance will lower your blood glucose, but it can also cause crotch rot and severe UTI's. Missing work time writing this comment due to the above listed. Please think long and hard before considering this medication. Talk to your doctor about other options.

I have been on Farxiga for about a year and have not had any problems. I make sure to drink at least 80 ounces of water per day, water or non-caloric beverage otherwise. The first day was horrible because of constant urination throughout the day, but I was fine after that. I am a man, so obviously, I will not have some of the symptoms mentioned in other posts in this thread. For some of those problems, my amateur guess as to a possible problem might be not drinking enough water, which is absolutely essential for this medicine, which works by eliminating glucose from the body through urination.

Nevermind all these chemicals! Do yourself a favour and get on a low carb high protein diet and watch your blood sugar levels return to normal. I was so desperate because a lot of these drugs just weren't working for me. As soon as I started a low carb diet and cut out the metformin and invokana, I found my blood sugar levels returned to normal. I don't hardly eat any carbs but lots of protein (meat), salads, cheeses etc. You need to try it and see if it won't work for you. It did for me!

Today is my 3rd day on 10mg of Jardiance. For at least 2-3 years I have been on 4x of 500mg of metformin. So when A1c went from 6.7 to 7.9 my doctor put me on this jardiance. Last three days I’ve been wanting to sleep. Given the great reviews of jardiance I don’t want to give up on it, so I’m thinking to cut it in half to 5mg a day and see how I can have less fatigue. The nice feature of this med is it makes you feel thirsty and wanting and enjoy drinking water 💦 💦! Before I had to force myself to drink water.

My A1c increased to 7.2 and my doctor just sent this medication (25mg) for me to my pharmacy. I’m a little worried because I pee a lot as is. Is this a lifelong medication or is this something that I can slowly come off of if I do my part and maintain control of my type 2? I am fairly active but I recently lost interest in exercise and dieting or just anything due to a death in my family. My A1c jumped up along with my cholesterol and now joint pain. My doctor wanted to put me on Ozempic but just found out thyroid cancer is on my paternal side. So jardiance it is! Don’t know how to feel about it now reading all these comments about yeast infections, UTIS, flesh eating infections, and all that jazz!
@thevoiceofdiabetes

Hi Dee. Thanks for sharing with us. Jardiance is relatively a safe medication. Of course, always possibility of side effects but overall really well tolerated with MANY health benefits as well. I wouldn’t worry about the frequent urination. I’ve noticed that once the sugar levels are more normalized for patients, that slows down and becomes a lot more “normal”. Also, just an FYI: ozempic is only contraindicated in those with a family history or personal history of “medullary” thyroid cancer. Not for papillary which is the most common form of thyroid cancer. Hope this helps! Keep us posted 😀

Great video as usual Diana. However it brings up many, many questions. i know it is individual patient's health that determines level of treatment. But in general at what A1C level should you go on a SGL2 inhibitor?? For example, I'm on Trulicity (for about a year lowest level)A1C 6.7. At what point do I add an SGL2 like Jardiance. I always thought the lower A1C the better but do I need to try and get into the normal range or is 6.7 okay? I'm a 72 year old male in general good health except for diabetes. It seems to me to be very complicated when you get your A1C under 7 as to further treatment. If as you stated SGL2 inhibitors are so great should it be added since I'm already on Trulicity?? Head scratcher
@thevoiceofdiabetes
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rob, I always look forward to your great questions and feedback. This is definitely a "head scratcher"... In your case, either option is good. If you have blood pressure issues, then I would definitely discuss adding one of these meds as they are great at lowering blood pressure in addition to blood sugars... Additionally, if you have heart disease then I wouldn't think twice... (jardiance) would be added.. However, if neither apply to you then I would likely keep my patient on trulicity and continue to monitor hba1c level... If it starts to spike up, I would add SGLT2... Hope this helps. I know it's not a clear cut answer but there are so many different components we consider before adding/eliminating meds, etc. Best of luck!

I was on Jardiance. I had a bad reaction to it. Constant low-grade headache in my forehead, and a constant dry mouth. Other problem as well, too embarrassing to relate. Here are some of the possible side-effects: * Possible Jardiance side effects: • Necrotizing fasciitis. A rare but serious bacterial infection that causes damage to the tissue under the skin in the area between and around your anus and genitals (perineum). This bacterial infection has happened in women and men who take JARDIANCE, and may lead to hospitalization, multiple surgeries, and death. Seek medical attention immediately if you have a fever or are feeling very weak, tired or uncomfortable (malaise), and you develop any of the following symptoms in the area between and around your anus and genitals: pain or tenderness, swelling, and redness of skin (erythema). • Yeast infection of the penis. Swelling of an uncircumcised penis may develop that makes it difficult to pull back the skin around the tip of the penis. Talk to your healthcare provider if you have redness, itching or swelling of the penis, rash of the penis, foul smelling discharge from the penis, and/or pain in the skin around the penis. READ the possible side-effects before agreeing to take this medication! Note: My prescription cost $47 under my medical plan.

Seriously, All medications arn't meant for everyone. If your a doctor that suggests this to anyone who hasn't been under your care and given a thourough check up it's like telling everyone that an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Your basically seeing things as you describe from patients such as weight loss as you describe because you guys don't know enough about it to even know exactly how it's going to work with everyone so you are learning yourselves about this medicine. My mom was put on this and her doctor wasn't well versed on it. She ended up having complications to Jardiance and passed away. She couldn't even drink enough water to maintain her dehydration. It may be a medication that is wonderful for some but not for everyone. Make sure your doctor is closely monitoring you when starting any new medication

Hello, I am sorry to hear about your complications. Jardiance helps protect the kidneys... It does not reverse kidney damage. We do not recommend Jardiance if the patient's eGFR is below 30. Jardiance does not normally replace insulin, however, I have needed to cut down on dosing depending on patients blood sugar levels with the addition of jardiance... Sometimes, we can cut down quite a bit on insulin if patient is responding well to Jardiance. I would recommend discussing with your Endocrinology team if you are a candidate for jardiance and if you are, I do recommend it to help protect your kidneys against diabetes along with cardiac protection... Hope this helps!

I had my stomach stapled 35 years ago and I can feel my stomach get tight which forces me to vomit. Not only that, but it made me so weak I had to lay down on the bathroom floor to prevent myself from falling off the toilet. This happened about 4 tijmes over the time I was on it. So, I thought maybe if I try half a pill and at night rather than mouring, it would make a difference. Nope, I had the worst bout of vomiting and diarrhea and became incredibly weak. I spent about 10 hours being unable to get up. Yes, it did lower my BS numbers but it was not worth it to me and I refuse to take it anymore.

Don't worry about the kidneys with frequent urination. That is their job-- we want to keep them busy and working-- Blood sugar is what kills the kidneys not too much water intake. You are good!

New subscriber here. Love the vid. Appreciate the detailed explanation of why we should stay hydrated. I’ve been on Farxiga for one week so far. Yes, peeing lots, thirsty, drinking lots of water, making efforts to stay clean. Hoping for good blood sugar numbers and some weight loss, feeling HOPEFUL about my health for the first time in a long time. Next I need to tweak my food and up my exercise. 🙏 ☺️

Sure Jardiance help diabetes but alot of insurance company's won't cover cause it so costly my doctor try to put me on this but cause the cost was 1.700 insurance would not cover it even with goodrx still was same cost so if your doctor put you on this make sure it's cover cause you'll be sticker shock

Ugh very possible. it has happened to other people. I normally suggest -- changing positions slowly when you are going from sitting to standing and drinking water-- plenty of it. Sometimes, I have to lower blood pressure med dosages due to this issue. Hope this helps

@@thevoiceofdiabetes I've never had high blood pressure in my life my blood pressure is very boring. I don't have high cholesterol either. I'm not overweight by any means. I didn't mind losing some weight. I'm active all day and I do drink plenty of water during my day.

I am trying to make Jardiance work. However, it washes me out. After day 2, I have zero energy. I fall asleep at my desk, 3-4 times a day and then sleep for 10-12 hours. I am on a Ketovore diet, getting less than 10 grams of carbs a day. Hopefully the diet works soon.

Same thing happened to me!! I wasn’t sure what it was but the only thing changed was the Jardience. How much water are you drinking? I am drinking enough for my urine to be very light colored.

Well, let me tell ya, I wandered in here wantin' to get the lowdown on Farxiga, that brand spankin' new medication I'm 'bout to start. And there was this delightful lady, bless her heart, who explained every little detail, clear as a bell. It's all 'cause of her wisdom and advice that I made the leap from NPH insulin to Tresiba. And darlin', ever since I made that switch, my life's been on an uphill path, better than a sweet peach on a hot summer day!

So I wonder about this all of a sudden, this drug has come up on the forefront and all of the scripts are exactly the same. Quite often when the scripts are the same. We have some deep state players trying to get us to do something that will not be for our best interest I have just started on one of these medicines after 45 years of managing diabetics naturally but I’m having a really hard time keeping the A1c under seven. Unfortunately, inexpensive food will give you diabetes cause I guess it’s not really food. However, the cost of these medicines is ridiculous. I am on part D ins they want $500 for three months. How in the world do they expect people to pay that kind of money on Social Security and don’t tell me to go get help from the manufacturer because I don’t qualify, I guess I’m like $10 over. I think it’s because of my political stance that they won’t give it to me for a decent price so I get it for $50 from another country big difference Americans being screwed on the price of medicine.
