But their subscription system sucks. They charge a subscription for basic battery control functionality. They are also: -A Chinese company known for installing spy chips in their computers for the CCP. -They do not integrate XMP into their BIOS, preventing meaningful RAM upgrades without significant expertise and BIOS flashing. -They do not have good hardware/firmware driver integration, causing lots of bizarre connection issues with their drivers. -And my personal experience with their warranty and repair service has been ridiculous. I really need to point this out: If you want more laptops to implement 30 minutes charging, get ready for even more bulky chargers with thick cables. Faster the charging, thicker the cable you need as you need a higher current. Cables are rated for current, we are talking about a laptop battery here, it isn't a teeny tiny mobile phone battery. 280watts need at least 2.5mm2 cabling+insulation.

3:05 Counterpoint: as the IT person at work who outfits everyone wall to wall with Lenovo laptops, I LOVE that the outlet side is a good ol' thick standard PC power cable that I can just replace with any other standard cable lying around if somebody loses theirs. Or even be lazy, leave the cable plugged under my desk at home, and just bring the brick with me to the workplace where I can use any other old printer or tower cable. Less bending down under desks that way. Don't ever make them change this.

I agree about the power cord, but there are a lot of things this video doesn’t address: #1 issue: their subscription system sucks. They charge a subscription for basic battery control functionality. You have to have Vantage or 9/10 of your battery features disappear. @@AtlantiansGaming - 1) I don't care what they install for the CCP. American companies (like Google of Meta) also have laws that require them to give information to the NSA. So who cares about lenovo doing the same for their government. - 2) Nullshit. XMP is a feature that you get when you buy "gaming" laptops. I bought an HP one a few months ago that did not have it, but it was an ultrabook with integrated graphics. The Lenovo Legion I had many years ago had XMP. - 3) Nullshit again. What does this even mean "connection issues with drivers"? I did not use any Lenovo drivers on the Legion I had, because I wipe everything and install directly from manufacturer websites. But Windows installed everything by itself through windows update and was working fine before I did it. I reinstall to remove the Bloat software. - 4) I agree with this, support is not very good, but still much better than Acer.

We've been seeing 5 GHZ laptops from intel since 2018 and it could or could not be because of AMD. 2018 was the year Ryzen was still getting beaten by the intel, It's only been since 2020 that AMD was finally being competitive enough to outperform intel's products. Plus gigahertz doesn't really matter that much when it comes to basically anything, either company can still win with other types of technologies besides clockspeeds. So it's not really because of AMD.

I bought the top tier one for 1400 open box from Best Buy and I love it. It feels premium, runs stable, and temps are great. With a cheap fan cooler, my GPU or CPU never crack 70 degrees c. Without it, neither crack 80. The only adjustment I made is I turned the Max CPU usage in the windows power settings to 99%, and run the laptop on performance mode. Ambient temps in my house are around 70f Only thing is that I feel like the RX6800s really shines at 1200P. At 1600P it struggles A LITTLE on some titles like A Plagues Tale. On others it’s fine. My recommendation for best gaming performance: Run your games at 1920x1200 and turn on Radeon Sharpening in the driver. Adjust the sharpening level to your liking and use FSR Quality in game if available, and you will get excellent performance.

@Z020852

I'm happy about HDMI on the rear now since that's great for someone using it as a portable desktop but why is there no Type-C at all in the back. If you're really using a laptop as a transportable tower it's great that your mouse, keyboard, and controller dongles are on the back and not get in the way if your messenger bag is tighter, but 1. These can still stick out past where the protrusions on the vents are so it can still be an issue with some backpacks given how it's sticking out the back 2. You'd use Type C USB3.x/4.0/TB for docks. Even if you use a gaming laptop and would connect directly to HDMI to reduce latency unlike for those doing this with a Macbook Pro, if you use it like this, chances are you'd use a TB dock while the only peripheral that you'd want permanently on the laptop and use away from the desk would be the mouse. Even if you pack the keyboard and controller chances are these can work off BT and, away from your desk, you're probably not playing competitively anyway (that excludes using it like a console for Mortal Kombat etc at an AirBnB; I mean sure that's competitive but not CS:GO nor going up against Prince of Macedon on TW). The other problem: why not just put in single channel 16gb soldered if they want to keep the price competitive? It's DDR5. Anyone who'd likely add RAM likely knows DDR5 doesn't depend on having two sticks or two banks to perform like dual channel on previous RAM standards due to how the controller works. This way those who need more RAM because they do professional work loads or keep a huge Excel spreadsheet and several Chrome tabs open while gaming will just buy one 16gb SODIMM without tossing out the included 8gb, and still end up with 32gb instead of 24gb.

Thick cable has its own purpose, because it enhances the cable fire resistance so the power brick wont get burnt/short circuited easily. Large form factor: can maintain high TDP or TGP because of large space to manage heat, but limited mobility Small form factor: lowered TDP or TGP to address heat issue, but versatile We will never get the 'perfect' product, because that's how it is since a light bulb was invented and those conditions will always be the case unless someone creates a more effective mobile cooling solution. @Hardware Canucks - This laptop is configurable (by default) with the 170W PS instead of the big 230W unit. Do you suspect it would perform any differently with the 170W? I'm wondering why your unit was delivered to you with the 230W, if it isn't required. The 6800S model with 6800H OR 6900HX all can be configured with the 170W PS. With your tests showing the 6900HX in Performance mode pulling 88W and the 6800S pulling 90W which is 178W... Surely as you suggested the unit would better be used in balanced mode all the time, making at 170W PS all the more practical. Thoughts? Either way, huge thanks for the great timing of this review. Unicode is a pain in the butt, and I sure as heck won't try to memorise an entirely new set of shortcuts to type the same old special symbols I've been typing for years! And, pray tell, why the hell would I pay $500 extra for shipping & import fees, when I could get a Flow x16 with a FREAKING MINI LED DISPLAY, a 3070 Ti, significantly better cooling, and a Turkish-Q keyboard for the same amount of money as the Slim 7 Gen 7 would cost, huh, AMD? Thanks, AMD! If there is one thing you can absolutely count on AMD for, it's the stock unavailability in anywhere outside the US of A.

id definitely take this over a zeph asus has its fair share of stability issues and liquid metal QC horror stories. Which i cant really justify owning/dealing with. Even at its power it could run 2k/QHD with lower settings/some lowered to med from full maxed out which isnt bad to see. From a size to performance standpoint thats a nice actual/realistic laptop for gaming. Build quality and form factor matter, Speakers were nice on the zeph NGL best ive had on a gaming laptop but this lenovo looks good For ppl that need a more size/portable conscious "gaming" laptop

Another review said this laptop has a screen wobble, and hinge stability is not premium quality as the rest of the laptop. Would've been nice to cover that. Noticed you were opening the laptop very slowly as if to hide that 🤔.

Ours was rock solid. As a matter of fact one of my family members bought this about 3 weeks ago and zero complaints. That said some early reviews seem to have pre production samples whereas ours is retail. - Mike

I have this laptop, but with intel. words of caution: 1) I "downgraded" it to Windows 10. it lacks one driver and lenovo's support is useless. Best you get are some indian people in call centers that can only read of a script. providing you a driver that is not on the website or even comprehending the problem is not on the table. 2) if i use it off the grid, it stutters. regardless of what I'm doing, but especially with video playback, it just freezes for a second or two randomly. works perfectly when plugged in though. 3) windows modern standby: i get sound notifications if i left on whatsapp web when I close the lid. basically, windows doesn't allow it to actually hibernate, best it can do is turn off the display.

For the Middle specced one (1549$) Ryzen 7 6800H and RX6800S it comes with 170w adapter and 230w adapter is optional. Is there a performance between them? If the 230w just charges faster, I really dont need that bulkier brick.

I`m thinking, replace that supply cord with a slimmer one, regular ones are rated at at least 500W so just change it to a more compact one ;)

I work with a lot of Lenovo Devices every day, ultra mobile notebooks, workstation notebooks, thin form factor computers and the regular office device. Over the years my co workers and i have noticed a downward trend in quality. Lenovo officials and support are just derping around being it dead on arrival devices or massive flaws in their product design. Every week we have to manually reset their ultra docking stations because users report black screens and disconnected USB devices. It's a struggle doing this remotely when users are working from home. Last year i bought and returned a Legion 5 Pro notebook. Fans were loud, keyboard lights were DOA, thermal grease all over the place and UEFI settings were missing basic functions like Wake on Lan. Lenovo support assured to me and were vowing to the holy bible that the Legion 5 Pro will 100 % support their own thunderbolt docking stations, which it didn't....

In India the base variant of this laptop with 6800H and 512 SSD costs whopping 203,300 INR which is $2506.06 USD ( almost double of 1329 ). Idk what Lenovo is smoking, but whatever it is, it's probably not cheap.

I have last years model. Do you think it is worth upgrading? I have zero issues, but I like the new design and added port to the rear. I also wanted the 16X10 aspect. Those reasons sound minimalistic to me, but any opinion is worth hearing.
