Ah, the Goa'uld. Trivially simple to defeat, and really only ever succeeded because of bad writing. Which, I love the shows, but yeah...some of the writing was...really, really bad. Ba'al and Todd were really the only decent villains in the entire franchise, and they had a lot of missteps in how their stories were written also.

I think Yu would've been, if not for his affliction of age, the only systemlord that could've coexisted with other factions like the Jaffa-Nation and Earth. If i remember correctly his Jaffa didn't see him as badly as other Jaffa saw their "master" (after realizing they weren't gods) The other one who might've pulled it off would be Ba'al... his attempt of taking over earth in the movie was quite the strong one.. he just failed to notice that his kin isn't really known for not stabbing their "loved ones" in the back when there is a chance. I think he would've been able to handle Earth in a way that Earth forces would've felt like an ally rather than a subject.

I think by the fact that Jaffa want to be free and Goauld are genetically bred to conquer there would be no system lords that could get on with Earth and the Jaffa. Any void in others empires are absorbed into other system lords empires and as soon as the Jaffa rebellion gained traction it was always going to butt heads with whichever system Lord gets in the way of freedom
@DiabloDBS
3 жыл бұрын
@@johnedwards3198 True. But i still think that Yu wasn't as aggressive in nature as others. I think if he hadn't gone senile he might've noticed the downfall of the old ways and might've been able to get into a favorable position with Earth and might've managed to keep his empire long enough for going into a stalemate and potentially at least a longer time of coexistence due to the Ori threat. And i think Ba'al as he was in the movie, was very good at swaying Teal'c by promising him the freedom of his people. And i actually think Ba'al, after all he learned on Earth, might've been able to actually pull it off to make the Jaffa "free" while still keeping them under him. He was essentially like an unscrupulous businessman that is good at hiding his graveyard. In the original timeline he wouldn't be able to but in the alternative movie timeline i think he might've been able to reign over "free" people.

@@DiabloDBS Yu was from an older generation that also gave rise to Egiria, Queen of the Tok'ra. He is not "as evil" as the younger generation of system-lord who got worse and worse with the genetic memory and the adverse effects of the sarcophagus. That is the way that I understand it anyway.
@DiabloDBS
3 жыл бұрын
@@isabelleblanchet3694 That might be a factor yes. His personality is completely different from other Goa'uld. He rarely presents himself as god and also took the persona of an ancient chinese emperor instead of taking on the role of a god. He also showed admiration for Teal'c to not blindly follow a new master and also for his efforts towards a free nation. And he was a man of his word seemingly having a deep sense of honor. But this one time at the end when his senility came through he wouldn't go back on his word and try to take advantage. Other system lords who allied themselves with earth wouldn't let any such chance slide, Due to his realm being on the other side of the milkyway the likelyhood for an actual coexistence with him are imho the highest as he is also more about protecting his realm than conqering new territories. He wasn't seeking all out domination but rather a stable realm of his own which also speaks for him actually caring in some regard for his subjects. Where other system lords would waste resources (Jaffas) in fruitless endeavours he would rather strenghten the defenses. Ba'al was similar in that regard and was as far as i remember the only Goa'uld who would blatantly state that the whole god thing is just an act but would still call Goa'uld superior to humans. But he was likely seeking all out domination. I just think that his time on earth and witnessing how the Jaffa rebellion got traction showed him a "better" way to achieve that. As long as your subjects feel like they are treated well they will not rebel against you while you can hold absolute power. And in a way that was also true for Yu. If i remember correctly his prime stated that most Jaffa under Yu weren't that unhappy as they got treated well implying it would take time or Yus downfall for them to join the rebellion.

Daniel Jackson, Teal'c and the Star Gate are captured at Fort Slava by Marley and Daniel falls in love with Pieck. O'Neill and Carter escape and return via a second Star Gate on Paradis Island and meet the Survey Corps who allow them to join their planned raid on Liberio to get Eren Yeager and hopefully Daniel and Teal'c back but first Hange demands SG-1 take her and her comrades Captain Levi, Armin, Mikasa, Sasha, Jean and Conny to Earth to see what its like. I plan on turning Eren and maybe Zeke Yeager into Goa'ulds to serve as the main villains. Got any suggestions for titan related Goa'uld names as Kronos is already taken? Maybe Goa'uld Atlas for Eren?

The egyptians didnt see the universe as Good vs. Evil, but as Law vs. Chaos. While good was better than evil, they didnt subsribe to the silly belief that anything or any side could be purely good or purely evil. Instead, Law was stability and orderly behaviour and predictability. The gods, unless they were in a foul mood, would bring the Nile floods in proper amounts. Not too much to cover homes in water, not too little to fail to irrigate and bring fertile mud. Chaos on the other hand was, not evil per se, but floods, droughts, locusts and war. Something that was destructive in itself, not something with a goal to destroy. This may be why Egypt survived for so long: It was not a factor if a Pharaoh was good or evil, but if he (or she) did his job. Sure there were taxes of grain and fruit, but in poor times food was distributed from the granaries to those affected by floods or droughts. This law applied to the farmers and the leaders both. Failure to follow it brought chaos and suffering, while following the rules guaranteed safety and stability even when tested by chaos.

Hey British Ben and team, I wanted to let you know of a point of inaccuracy in your video's beginning; I'm referring to "It's nice to see that the producers of the show didn't pick any gods that people actually still worship". First off, I am Greek and spent most of my life there. As antiquated as all millennia-old religions (be they poly- or monotheistic) may sound to us 21st century increasingly irreligious folk, there still are people who are adherents of polytheistic religions whose deities are depicted in SG-1 (no spoilers, I'm on season 5!). Examples of polytheistic religions still practiced: Hellenism (the religion, not the culture), Shinto, Chinese traditional beliefs, Tibetan traditional beliefs, Asatru, Hinduism, and on and on -- not to mention the numerous groups around the world that are animists (something I was for a wee bit of time in my life). I interpret the show as dropping occasional hints, eluding to the idea that almost all gods in human history are the result of System Lords (or others, i.e. the Asgard) meddling with the affairs of humans. Think back to instances when the Senator speaks about there only being "one god"; I see this (and maybe it's just me talkin' here) as a nudge to the viewer that all these gods could be "false". It opens up a conversation in the attentive viewer's mind, not hinting one way or the other, but simply introducing a concept. Otherwise, great vid! Thanks!

Noah from Noah’s Ark was not a Goa’uld, he was a Pleiadean, a good ET. That’s why he was saved and he saved all the species. The ark was a giant ET ship. And the animals were not physical animals, but their DNA’s that were saved and then artificially in-vitro fertilized for procreation. This is true @generationfilms

So Unas means first ones and Tau'ri means first ones... Weird. And the Unas don't count as "people"? Cuz I'm pretty sure the Goa'uld took them first through the gates to conquer new planets. That would make humans not the first people abducted to serve as hosts.

What I've always hated is Hathor coming out of her sarcophagus speaking English...but I just turn my brain off for five seconds and it's fine. We can't all have Universal Translators™.

Musk... LOL He'd like to be system lord of Mars. 'Says all his colonists have to disavow Earth gov loyalty - and give it to him? That's fine, if living under the Muskopoly of Mars sounds goa'uld to you. ;-i Thanks for the goa'uld line up. A very goa'uld job.

Lest we forget, the Goa'uld realized they could not replicate the grace and love of Christ to become a "judeo-Christian" god, so for some transplanted earth cultures, they had to imitate the demons (minions of the Devil). I'd say that's "score on for Christianity" in the Stargate Universe.

they did go with Christian type thing with the Oria. Also Christianity would only become a thing couple 100 years after the goa'uld would leave.

Although probably hard thing to sell to a studio that aims for the american market, i think an incredible story-line would have been if the Goa'uld were actually part of several major religions, prompting huge problems with religious people on earth worshipping their returned gods later in the series. Imagine the religious chaos the Goa'ulds and Asgards reveal would have caused on earth. We are a planet full of people ready to gullibly throw themselves into the most ludicrous superstitions. From Scientology over Mormonism to evangelical christians who believe that heavy metal and hip hop are tools of Satan to literal alien worshippers, like the Raelans, or Scientology if the leaks are true. Imagine a new age and neo-pagan renaissance, with one group worshipping Goa'uld personas and others Asgard personas. Maybe leading to serious global turmoil, as both groups go at each other. Some countries governments falling to one or the other group. Instead, we got only one Setesh-Sect episode. A great one, but sadly nothing more.

They did choose some gods but maybe lesser known ones. But satan was depicted via Sokar and that christian village with the unas taking prisoners. Funny the viking gods are for once not depicted as warmongering including the followers.

Ra was the creator of the system lord's, the other gods and goddesses. And I thought Ra's brother was Amun-Re, Horus was the son of Osiris, (Sokar) and Isis. Raw never had a growled snake in his neck or in his stomach like that others did.

Actually, the Norse gods are still actively worshipped in very small amounts, and while the devil isn't worshipped, he is feared all the same.

@@GenerationFilms I think you'll find even in the west the christians are a majority only in the eyes of other christians. Anyway, producers did pick gods people actually still worship, maybe not Ra, but Thor and the rest of the Aces for sure -maybe not in the USA, but still.
