She went through so much horror. She's said consistently that she wished she had done differently and that she's not happy her mom is gone. It was an act of desperation, not of a "yasss slay" moment. It's so weird that everyone's reaction to a killing was like "GOOD FOR HER! QUEEN!!" when it was a tragic situation where both she and her mom suffered from a lot of mental issues. Gypsy Rose herself says she doesn't hate her mom, despite everything she went through. Yet everyone are so caught up in the "importance" of the narrative that bad parenting can have consequences, that "she did nothing wrong, yass queen" they don't consider the human and how traumatic this was for everyone involved. Everyone knows Gypsy Rose suffered. But she certainly doesn't treat the killing like a happy, liberating moment. And if you had a deeply traumatic and abusive relationship with someone but still saw the humanity in them and regretting killing them as an act of desperation, how do YOU think it would feel for everyone to treat you like a slayy queen? Because that shit is not as empathetic as you think.

I feel so bad for Gypsy. This poor woman can't catch a break. Many of the people actually interviewing her, harassing her for statements, following her around like she's a Kardashian are honestly terrible. She's been through more trauma than many people can possible imagine. She probably just wants to have a semblance of normalcy, but the media is forcing her into the public eye. Stop with the rumors, the aggressive cheerleading, all of it. Just wish her well & let her get on with her life. People are heartless vultures & it's genuinely disgusting. Note: I'd like to add that my comments are not directed at Caitlin. To me, she's using her acting skills to highlight how bizarre & repugnant it is to harass Gypsy Rose the way the media has been. Additional note: I was NOT trying to say that I thought Gypsy was in any way weak, as has been implied in my replies. Are you kidding? She is so incredibly strong & determined, & I think she's a genuinely good, caring person. I think that regarding Gypsy's book, her documentary, things she has been planning & has control over, absolutely should be discussed! That's a great way to show her support, when it's something she's put her heart into so she can share her side. To clarify, I'm saying that it seems like she's really being swarmed. Caitlin's video was a comedic exaggeration, but also not really. There are people online typing things for Gypsy Rose like "slay omg" or other things that seem to be in poor taste. Or that really disgusting rumor about Gypsy's husband looking like her mother & how it could be indicative of some of her trauma. In a what universe would Gypsy or anyone want to hear that? People aren't really conducting themselves with the sensitivity typically expected when someone's just been released from prison for killing their abusive mother. I think there's a difference between respectfully hearing her out, showing support, & acting like a vulture.

@@sarajanewebster5321 Yes, but she literally just got out of prison. & even before the tragic events that transpired, she was never free. All she knows is captivity, whether by her horribly abusive mother or a physical jail cell. Gypsy is undoubtedly in an extremely vulnerable place right now. Not to mention, she's been emotionally stunted. She might be too scared to turn them down, or she might not realize she's being exploited. Or she might just not know how to navigate a situation like this. The internet can be a brutal place. Gypsy isn't used to full autonomy, & she could very well be overwhelmed trying to sort everything out.

@@TheRomantics48 I'm not trying to infantilize her. I'm just saying that this is probably a lot to take in for her. My points weren't arguing against her documentary. I'm speaking about the public's conduct regarding this situation. People are legitimately turning into obsessed fans. The things they say are inappropriate, because there's a difference between "Gypsy shouldn't have gone to prison" & "omg slay, queen". Gypsy Rose will post a picture having nothing to do with this documentary, & I'll see countless reposts & responses to her mirror selfie, analyzing her social media as if she were Taylor Swift. They've sparked terrible rumors- like her significant other looking too similar to her mother, therefore it must be indicative of Gypsy's psychological trauma. Which is absolutely violating & insane. Way too many sources, way too many random people, are freaking out over her. While I'm sure she wants to promote her documentary, this all has to be a little too much, too fast.

The TLDR is her mother likely suffered from Fictitious Disorder Imposed on Another (aka Munchhausen by proxy), so she did a lot of things to Gypsy Rose really just to get pity and media attention like Gypsy is not disabled and is not mentally handicapped in any way (to my knowledge or definitely would have been fully neurotypical in a healthy environment) but DeeDee her mother forced her to have multiple unnecessary surgeries and said she had the mental capacity of a toddler; DeeDee even lied to Gypsy about her age, she was told she was 14 when she was 18-19. On top of that is horrific abuse, which led to Gypsy’s then boyfriend to murder DeeDee in 2012 to as a way to free Gypsy. Gypsy was sentenced to jail for second degree murder but she’s now being let out on parole. she’s now 32 and fully believes that while it was a desperate situation she wishes there was a way to save her mother from whatever mental illness was ailing her and she would’ve gotten help, but the media and people not listening to Gypsy’s story is just imposing their own revenge fantasy of their past trauma and abusers and not seeing that this is a case of what severe mental illness can do to other people. I realize I said this was supposed to be a TLDR but the exact details are very lengthy to say the least.

I think they're all missing a key element here that Gypsy Rose DID NOT want her mother to die. She wanted the pain to stop, and she was so absolutely desperate for that to happen that she participated in something so unspeakable, most people forget that by luck of the draw, it could so easily be you. It could have been you in any of those positions, and while Gypsy Rose's narrative is certainly sympathetic, traumatic, and compelling, there's a lot of nuance to be found here. It's just a sad story all around.

Fr there are even people in these comments waging war like "she's an evil manipulator who tricked a poor innocent man into murder" (lol) and "literal icon slay mother" like this is twitter discourse about a fictional character and not an actual abused human being 🙄

I wish people would leave her alone, the poor girl was sent to prison instead of getting help. The system has failed her so hard! Just let her live in peace! This could be triggering for her!!!

Wow, wow, wow… wow. When she crossed her eyes I died. Not because Gypsy killed me, but because it was hilarious. 😂

This woman deserves her own Netflix special, her own A24 black comedy, her own EVERYTHING. The observations, the ridiculously accurate attention to detail, the sympathetic odes to otherwise loathsome characters without a hint of sensationalism. My God!

I agree with this so much! Everyone's treating her like she's some celebrity. It's freaking scary how they interview her like nothing happened. Even laughing at the fact that she planned her Mom's murder. This is America.
