It's worth it as long as the bolt isn't broken. If you break the bolt... well... lol

That's why for me it's always no wrenching without gloves on… did that once and decided I had enough and got me a good pair of rubberized gloves.

Lol no kidding, why would you use something that puts your hand right in a crunch point? But still I didn’t see f’ed up cuticles, or nick, cuts, bruises, not even oil. 🤣🤣

Always use a pipe in this situation. The added leverage makes it easier and the added length moves your hand out of harms way.

That's why you use a piece of pipe as a breaker bar. First thing a senior tech taught me when I started working in a garage. Just have to be careful not to snap bolts off.

🤔 as a decades-long mechanic, this is one of the main reasons why I wear gloves.. that incident would literally cost me about a second of pain! And then I'm back to work. 👍

The other day I was holding a ratchet on the tensioner with one hand and the other hand set on the edge of the hood when the ratchet slipped and slammed into my thumb. Worst pain I’ve felt in a while. Swole up pretty good too 👌🏼✌🏼

Honestly I’ve never seen many mechanics where gloves much but I’ve done construction work a lot over the last 10 years & I can say it really helps me sleep better at night knowing I protected myself while working!!!!! PPE GUYS!!!!!! SAFETY 1ST! 🤦🏿

I did this in a crawl space once. Got halfway and realized what I’d gotten myself into. In my situation my arm was pegged with no space and sheet metal was ripping my flesh off. Got halfway and realized I could back it out and try again, or send it. I sent it alright. I’ll carry that scar proudly for the rest of my life. I needed about 20 stitches. I butterflied it and never went to the hospital. Ouch.

@InevitableTruth247

Funnily enough, if you read warning labels on wrenches and osha warnings it advises to never push and only pull, but that’s really only for large application. Getting a nice pair of impact gloves that run along the back of the finger solves this though

Been working on my bikes and cars all my life but this one time a stubborn engine oil pan bolt that was tightened with an air gun by a moron at a shop previously made me use a lot of torque laying underneath my car and when pulling on the long wrench it would literally lift up my whole body off the ground so I switched to pushing using my back against the ground for more torque and had my gloves on but when it suddenly broke loose with a brutal force my middle finger got smashed broken in a few places getting caught in between the wrench and parts of the bottom of the car and I usually always been cautious by spreading the hand using the inner palm in such scenarios..slip ups, mind off, miss calculations do happen out of nowhere sometimes
