You made the right call at the end. I love the Sega CD. I always wanted one since it came out. I didn't finally get one until 6-7 years ago. I only have a small collection, but it's quality stuff: Dune, Vay, Lunar 1 and 2, and Shining Force CD. I was able to get them when prices were still reasonable. With the exception of Dune, what I paid for all of them combined wouldn't equal what one of them costs now. Wish I had grabbed some others when I had the chance to get them for much less than they go for now like The Terminator. Some of these I've seen around but didn't know anything about them but will have to see what they cost these days. If it isn't too crazy I might might add some more games to my collection. Battlecorps and RDF: Global Conflict look like games I'd have fun with, and Bari Arm looks pretty cool.

Fantastic video, though, I feel you were unfair to Hook. The controls may take some getting used to, but I always found them to be precise and the weightlessness of Peter Pan to be intentional. Honestly, it feels refreshing when most platform action games make your character so heavy. Lastly, this game was developed by Ukiyotei! They made the underrated Skyblazer for SNES and went on to develop classic games for SNK! At least you mentioned the great graphics and phenomenal music selection for the CD version. The Genesis and SNES versions of this game are also fantastic.

I used to have nightmares about the Riddler's VR section in Batman&Robin for years after failing to complete it in 1995, didn't help that my original sega cd would randomly flip out and eject the disc during gameplay funny thing is I bought a Genesis 2 with a sega cd toploader with this game in 2006 and beat it in one night, glad to put that one to bed finally

@@jbfarley My answer got removed? Well, mister, it was released in North America, Japan and Europe. I did put a link for an ad for an North American copy that is for sale, so you could see it with your own eyeballs, but maybe that`s why the comment got removed..

12 year old me wanted a Sega CD so bad. What a huge disappointment 3-5 games tops worth playing on the entire system. LOL. I really wanted an Atari Jaguar too. I guess I just had a thing for shit game systems.

About 10 games worth playing the rest are shit. Also ,game developer's never bothered to get the most out of the hardware because they knew it was a dead end. Word was out that the Saturn was coming so why waste time on a sinking ship. The new Sega mini comes to mind. There's a short list of Sega CD games people actually want; you would think they wouldn't cheap out on localization or insuring the sought after titles were included.

The Sega CD always felt a bit like missed opportunity to me. I mean why did Sega include a scaler chip in the system but not port any of their awesome super scaler Arcade titles to the system? Makes no sense to me. Also a real shame that there was no improvement to the GPU/Video output, as this thing really could have used a bigger color palette with more colors allowed on screen. The Genesis really held this thing back in that regard. Such a shame... Still fun for what it is but could have been so much more!

It's a shame that besides Core Designs games using the scaling and rotating abilities of the Mega CD, we never had any decent super scaler ports. Even SEGA barely used the Mega CD's extra features....

I still think the NA Sega CD library sucks ass it's too bad there wasn't more 2D games cuz it's a powerhouse for those types. I feel like the Sega CD only contributed to having CD quality audio that's basically it.

Do we Americans not like video games to be video games? Back then it was FMV games reminding us every five seconds that this isn't a game. And now it's cinematic games that try to be a movie or t.v. show.

Is anyone ever told Sega the Megadrive didn't have enough simultaneous colors on screen to make ANY FMV game look decent ?? Also : Space Adventure Cobra came from a manga/anime that was also extremly popular in France when released there (it's one of my 2 fav anime TV serie) !

Joe what you need to realise here is that you are abnormally, freakishly good at shoot em ups, so when you say that an r-type style shooter is way too easy, I take that with a barrel of salt mate.

Thumbs up for also including several games that were released in other regions. Very mature decision from a very reasonable adult.
