This video brought back so many memories of the early 2000s when I started diving into emulation to experience the many games I missed out on while growing up! Thank you for helping me put a name on Zombie High, which I ran into while testing out various MegaDrive ROMs back then and couldn’t remember the name of, besides “this looks like a Zombies Ate My Neighbours side scroller”.😊🙇♂️ I also remember spending hours trying to beat The Haunting’s pretty unfair last boss or progressing in The Ooze’s increasingly challenging levels.

Wolf child is genuinely outstanding and I am so glad it made the list. I see so many people describe Amiga ports as “generic mascot platformer with bland gradient backgrounds.” But when people make that mistake I’m just like… Wolfchild though?? (And also Turrican). Amiga is an outstanding source of platformer. If only it’s other gems such as Switchblade 1 and 2 got console ports. Those games rival the best metroidvania games for me.

Great video! I can tell a lot of time and effort went into it. As far as any game suggestions for the list goes, it's not 100% a Genesis game (you may have also mentioned it and I missed it because it's a longer video haha), but "Williams Arcade's Greatest Hits" contains Sinistar in the compilation and that dude is spooky lookin'. Just thought it worth an honorable mention.

There's a little cheat on the game you could use... on the options screen, select the practice setting (the one where you get unlimited potions). Starting from the central platform in front of the stages wheel, go towards the right and jump on the little brick platform just above the air elemental door and open the potion select sunscreen and select the escape door spell and use it. The screen will flash white a few times and make an exploding/cracking sound... go back to the stages wheel, the inner dots will all be blue indicating that those areas have all been cleared

Risky Woods, I would really recommend reading the manual, since it explains the pickups, armour, weapon upgrades and such, also even if you have played the Amiga version, since (I am pretty sure) the pickups does not give the same outcome on Mega Drive vs Amiga. Like the skull means death in one game and superweapon in the other. If I remeber correct. If you farm some it can be relatively easy I think. It is a great overlooked game in my opinion.

"The Genesis version of Alien 3 is the definitive version" Wait.. WHAT? have you ever actually played Alien 3 on snes? the graphics are spectacular and still hold up perfectly, the music is amazingly done and sounds like it came strait from one of the movies, the action and sound effects are top notch, and its even got a voice sample of Hudson from Aliens during the Game Over screen ffs! its actually the only movie based game from that era i occasionally go back to, i can't imagine why anyone would prefer the Genesis version when the snes one is so good, i'm just going to assume you never played the snes version.

The video is finally working and I'm glad to see another large upload from you. Your last one was recommended to me so hopefully the algorithm picks up this vid too, you definitely deserve more subscribers. Splatterhouse was the first Genesis game I had ever seen and it put the console on my radar. I wanted to play it even though I was far too young to be doing so. When I finally got a Genesis Imcould never find a copy of Splatterhouse 2. I always saw Zombies Ate My Neighbors in the discount bin at KB Toys. The bin was full of that game and I always assumed that it was a bad game because of that. I definitely regret never picking it up when I would ultimately pick up worse games from that same KB Toys. Don't know if you know this but the Genesis version of Ghouls and Ghosts was actually developed by SEGA themselves.

Decap Attack was actually a "cutesy" game for the Japanese release? Huh, I always found it interesting when developers would make changes, this reminds me of how different some other ports would be, this is more common with Genesis than the SNES. Also, I know Risky Woods for the Amiga, didn't know it had a Genesis port. I don't get what's the idea of changing the protagonist's clothing though, just for that I personally prefer the original Amiga version.
