@@MySkinnydip the zoo is waiting on the sexes before finalising names. A patron of the zoo donated a substantial sum in order to name them. Some of the options are quite cute, but I won’t spoil them here as I wouldn’t want to compromise the donation. You shall have to wait for the public reveal :p

The London Zoo has created amazing conditions for gorillas: a large area with evergreen grass, lots of trees and bushes as well as a wonderful play area. The gorillas also have a large room (hidden from the eyes of visitors) and a glassed room (which also has ropes and hammocks for resting and playing). I hope you'll enjoy watching this amazing troop!

WHEN DOES EFFIE'S BABY GET TO NURSE?😢
@cute.gorillas
10 күн бұрын
Please don't worry. Effie's baby is well nursed. Effie is surely not as caring as Mjukuu, but she is doing her best after postpartum depression. I also hope zookeepers are keeping an eye on both babies.

@@cute.gorillas did one of the keepers say she has postpartum? First I’ve heard of that. Very unfortunate if true.

WHEN WILL SOMEONE INTERVENE? EFFIE'S BABY ISNT BEING TREATED RIGHT. TOO HARD TO WATCH, GOTTA GO WHERE BABIES ARE BEING LOVED AT ALL TIMES. ❤❤❤

The baby is fine. ZSL London Zoo is a conservation zoo and will not intervene/handle the animals unless absolutely necessary, and removing an infant primate from its mother, where both will be severely affected by this, would be the very last thing they want to do. I will be going to the zoo tomorrow and Friday so will talk to keepers then to get more info to reassure you, but yeah.. it really isn’t as simple as just intervening. I visit maybe twice a week and have never thought relationship between the infant and mother was anything out of the ordinary.

A real horror story would be what happened to one of three tiger cubs that was born some 2 years ago. One of the parents was playing with it and accidentally killed it. At least with Gorillas this kind of thing is a bit less likely.

I agree. I have seen other zoos intervene earlier to preserve the life and welfare of the baby. Many others who don't intervene are the ones you read in the news: "Sad news, baby gorilla has died".

Effie’s baby is well cared for. Treated right really? Come on snowflake these are animals. Effie has postpartum depression she may not be touchy feely like the other right now but she touches baby tenderly feeds him. The zookeepers are the professionals not us who watch a 5 minute video an do not see the full picture
