You can argue it being over such a small thing but the amount of stuff she gets away with when it comes to Julius is also immense. I didn't feel bad for Tanya as a kid and I still don't feel bad for her as an adult. It also shows that Julius spoils her too much with how she acts in response to him. I think the point was that in many households the mother is the first level of discipline, but if she needs backup the Dad is called in (Just wait till your father comes home!). Because Julius went into handle things immediately instead of letting Rochelle speak to their daughter, everything appears much more serious. Also, it's shown that he has a soft spot for his daughter so to see him upset like this is jarring for her because shes not used to it. Rochelle thinks he should have taken that into consideration, and is probably upset that he stepped over her authority as a disciplinary figure, when typically she will ask him to handle a child only if she personally feels like its needed.

Not defending Tonya because she's a major brat and both instances could be considered karma for all her misbehaviours but unlike the earrings didn't the entire family have permission to use the tape recorder and wasn't taping over his show an accident. Tonya getting karma seems only satisfying if she intentionally does something malicious and I think the point Rochelle was trying to make was that everybody was used to her yelling and because Tonya's a daddy's girl Julius getting mad at her is scary because she's not used to it but in the end they both apologized to each other and worked things out. But I agree it was kind of hypocritical on Rochelle's part since according to Chris in the laundry episode she wouldn't care if Chris told his sister he hates her but would care if she was left all alone at home because of the damage she could do.

Ikr. Personally I bet they’re like Rochelle if they think or feel that way, especially if they’re female. Like bullheaded or stuck up and all about themselves. And on top of that, they must have that kind of attitude that they’re always right, even when they’re wrong

Julius worked his behind off for his family (2 jobs). He didn’t ask for much, but his stories and the big piece of chicken. He never really got mad and he still couldn’t win. Rochelle was the raising Tonya up to be just like her.

I find it odd people say Julius yelled. Like this is more of a stern talking to and not even in the leagues of my own parents growing up. Tanya should be sorry: Julius works two jobs and that show is probably one of the few ways he can relax and reward himself for all he does. Which is why her sternly told her where she went wrong, she wasn’t even punished for it. Just don’t do it again.

This is not the only time Julius got mad with his kids, lol. Remember when Chris almost got Julius shot by cops because of that phony story for his school news paper and Julius wanted to "Stretch Chris's Behind"? Or how about when Chris talked back to his mother and Julius has to put him in his place? Now if there are any more scenes of Julius being mad, let me know, lol. This is probably the only scene in the whole series where he disciplines Tonya, lol. There shouldn't be no argument between Dad and Mom when it comes to their children being obedient. Funny scene, 😂. But real stuff. Rochelle, that's a whole different story altogether, lol. PS: "She's 11. She made a mistake." Chris and Drew who are both older made tones of mistakes and Rochelle bit the roof. Your age don't matter.
@ThomasRobinson-by2wm

Although to Julius's credit, he didn't put Chris in his place over the dishes situation. Julius calmly told Chris what he did was wrong, but also agreed with Chris how non - sensical it was that Chris had to apologize even if he wasn't in the wrong. And also, Julius later on said to Rochelle (in a private talk) that he actually understands Chris's reasonings. Oh, and there was the time when Julius got mad at Drew for wearing a clown face paint and scaring Tanya enough to make her wet the bed lol

Everyone hating on rochelle is understandable. But keep in mind. Tanya is the last, and ONLY daughter. Mothers have this unknown, untouchable love when it comes to the baby, especially if it's a girl. Just my experience with my mom, and other families who have two eldest sons and a young daughter. So, Tanya might be in the wrong, but her mother will always come to her defense until she actually sees the wrong she has done.
