Hello, everyone! Welcome back to 英語一日一言. Today, we're going to do something a little different. I'm going to say an English phrase, and I want you to write down what you hear. Ready? I’ll say it twice, all right? Here's the phrase: 'What do you do for a living?' 'What do you do for a living?' Write it down, and then we'll talk about what it means.
The answer is “What do you do for a living?”, “What do you do for a living?”
"Now, let's break it down. This phrase is a common way to ask someone about their job or profession in English. When you ask 'What do you do for a living?', you're curious about what kind of work they do to earn money."
"Let's practice saying it together. I'll say it slowly: What... do... you... do... for... a... living? Now, let's say it at normal speed: 'What do you do for a living?'"
"For example, if someone asked me, 'What do you do for a living?', I could answer, 'I’m an English teacher. Or “I create educational videos on KZitem about English phrases.'
"I'd love to hear from you! What do you do for a living? Share your answers in the comments below."
"Thank you for watching today's 英語一日一言. Remember to practice this phrase and use it next time you want to learn about someone's job. For you beginners, my entire script is in the details section or you can always use the subtitles function on KZitem to check out what I was saying. Anyway, don't forget to like, subscribe, and hit the notification bell for more videos. See you in the next video lesson and while you wait, have a good one. Bye.
